• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I too want to have a normal life where I am not haunted by this. I need help but I'm not sure how to go about it. I believe in Crist and want to be a good Christian. Seems like this is what is keeping me away from doing that. Help me...

I am no great counselor, but i know Jesus can help you.......
Max Lacado wrote as a main statement in his famous book 'Just Like Jesus' this encourageing statement-
'God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way! He wants you to be just like Him!'
I am absolutely sure it is tough, but if your willing to work with Him to get rid of these desires, He is willing to help. This is what Jesus says in 2Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
I will be praying for you. God bless you brother.

Welcome to CF! I suggest you to take "the way of purity" online course. I don`t have enough posts to post a link here, but you should find this course if you google "setting captives free the way of purity." If you truly want to stop doing these things, then remove everything from your life what tempts you to do them. I recommend you to but a porn-filter on your computer or if you have any porn magazines or DVD`s, throw them away. If your TV makes you stumble, give it away. Whatever makes you fall, cast it out (read Matthew 5:27-30). The most important thing is that you can`t do it on your own, you need to turn to God and ask Him to lead you - pray daily.

The method described above has worked for me so far, although it`s only a week I`ve been free and I`ve faced temptation. Sorry, if made any mistakes, I`m not good at English. Anyway I hope that post helped you a little.
