  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone! Lovely to speak to you all again :) finally have something a bit more lighthearted (but not too carefree, don't get your hopes up :p) to talk about.

I'm in the nerds dreamland scenario where I get to study games. Video games. (Shaken, not stirred). Bit of a difference if what everyone expected of me (vet or doctor) but extremely fun and interesting.
I actually have a few questions to some of you more "technologically savvy" people out there. ( will also be posting a more advice based thing on the advice forums)

Little bit of background knowledge: I'm incredibly interested in the design of games in relation to psychology. I even plan on getting my Phd in psychology in relation to games, and my main area of focus (or areas, really) is both in violence in games and hyper sexualisation if females in games and the psychological effects of these aspects.

A) do you find it strange that a Christian would be interested in this?
B) do you think it's ok for a Christian to be doing this as her main study focus?

I know people regard violence in games and enjoying this is a sin, but I want to know directly what you guys think, as it's also part of my off-to-the-side study :)

Ps: bioshock infinite (though classes as sinful) is amazing!!

Lots of love always,
-Cyp

Yes.

People who blindly classify all violence in games as "sinful" don't really understand games or, I suspect, any sort of stroy-telling medium.

"Sinfully awesome". Wish that could be an ESRB rating :p
But thankyou for your response, been getting mixed feelings from friends and family, so thought I might bring it to the forums :)

No worries. Tough of course when it comes from friends and family, but such complaints are made about every medium when it emerges.
