  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I received a bundle wrapped in brown paper and strapping tape.
It contained a booklet called
"The One True Church and The Church Or The Bible, by Fr. Arnold Damen, S.J.
With a picture on the front of ? perhaps Fr.Damen?

Also, this
Pope Eugene IV, Cantate Domino (1441): "The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the "eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41), unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church."
There were 4 other items of literature as well.

But i was concerned about the above (havent read the booklet about the
one true church and the church or the bible, but those will probably be
of concern as well yikes...)

I'd like to hear the truth
Whoever left me this obviously is concerned about my salvation.

Is this real?
Thanks

This is the teaching of the RCC church, but it is not the teaching of the Bible. The bible says 'whosoever believes' - it does not have any if's, ands or buts or RCC after it.

Heaven will have no labels - there will be most all denominations in Heaven, God gave us a brain and a heart and the same God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. Jesus left us with only 2 commandments when he went to Heaven - have no other God's before me, love your neighbor as yourself - this will cover all the rest.

Once you have asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life and repented of your sins, your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life and the Bible says that no one can snatch you from His hand. You can worship where you please as long as you follow the Bible.

Pope Eugene IV saw the RCC primarily as a political power rather than a spiritual one. His statements were intended to keep his subjects 'in line' so that he could rule their territories with a minimum of military force. Even the kings of the various nations which were under the RCC's domination were required to answer to the pope or else face excommunication.

Hi sunlover. I see you're an american. There are a few things that bother me about your country, namely the intentional attempted genocide of my native ancestors. There's a few quotes that I have supporting the viewpoints behind these atrocities which bother me:

The whole continent of North America appears to be destined by Divine Providence to be peopled by one nation, speaking one language, professing one general system of religious and political principles, and accustomed to one general tenor of social usages and customs. For the common happiness of them all, for their peace and prosperity, I believe it is indispensable that they should be associated in one federal Union
. -John Quincy Adams

[W]e have never dreamt of incorporating into our Union any but the Caucasian race—the free white race. To incorporate Mexico, would be the very first instance of the kind, of incorporating an Indian race; for more than half of the Mexicans are Indians, and the other is composed chiefly of mixed tribes. I protest against such a union as that! Ours, sir, is the Government of a white race.... We are anxious to force free government on all; and I see that it has been urged ... that it is the mission of this country to spread civil and religious liberty over all the world, and especially over this continent. It is a great mistake.
-Senator John Calhoun

If you are unable to answer for these mistakes, should I hold you accountable?

That would sorta be close to this wouldnt it?

Mat 23:30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Mat 23:31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

Mat 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

Even though there were those who stood opposed

What are you talking about? And what does it have to do with this thread?

It has everything to do with this thread. If you want to drag the past out into the light, then let's do it. If you think your hands are clean while pointing out the speck in your brother's eye, think again, and I can show you otherwise. If you want to show the Roman Catholics to be anything less than the same as yourself, I can show you that you are in fact worse off than they.

Of course, we could learn to forgive, to keep Christ's words, and God forbid, be cleansed of our iniquity.

Everything . the natives were displaced and mistreated in favour of creating some illusionary concept Christian nation . speaking of a one true church in context of the wake of history like this .. seems kinda pointless .. doesn't it?
