  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Daca este cineva aici cine vorbeste romaneste, o spune!
If anyone here is from Romania, knows Romanian or has been to Romania... I am a fellow Romania lover!! :) My romanian language skills are a bit rusty, but they still work a little bit.

Binecuvantii! (Be blessed!)

I have been in Arad all winter. My wife is from here [she is on the phone right now or I would have her write] When it comes to the languge, usually I have to say 'nu inteleg' We are in Sinaia for the weekend.
Some of my pictures of Romania are linked from my website, www.mikesnow.org

Salut! You live in Arad?! Ah, I love that city!! :) After I graduated high school in 2008, I lived in Arad for about a year, volunteering in a children's home. While winter isn't necessarily my favorite time of the year in Arad, I would give so much to be there regardless of the temperature! Hopefully it fits into God's plan for my life!

I don't know how familiar you are with Arad, but I worked with Oaza Ministries. I lived in the neighborhood of Bujac. My two favorite places in Arad were the Mal ( the walkway between the park and the river), and the park at Podgoria. It has been four years since I've lived there, and still, anytime I find myself somewhere that even remotely reminds me of either of those places, it takes me back to Romania instantly!

I checked out your blog, your pictures of Romania are beautiful!

Imi pare bine sa te cunosc!:)

I was in Romania 2 years ago and loved it. I thought people were soooo friendly and helpful.

But it was like everyone outside Bucharest was hit by bad self-esteem about their country. Some people told me it was better during socialism and that they were totally disillusioned with the EU, capitalism and their current government, which they think is corrupt. They felt that European talk about solidarity is hollow and gave some examples which I think are correct..... It really made me think.

I stopped in a city called Iasi on my way to Ukraine. There was a fantastic cathedral there, so beautiful with fabulous art, undergoing renovation. A priest came out and did a long solo guided tour for me. I learnt a lot that I didn't know about Orthodox Christianity.

Unfortunately gypsy beggers from Romania give the country a bad name in the rest of Europe.

Would recommend anyone to go to Romania! It's not exactly a shopping destination, but it's fantastic if you like art, culture and friendly people.

Was really surprised that there was a border check entering Romania from Hungary. Apparently Romania is or was outside Schengen.

It si corrupt, but isnt the whole world corrupt? Bucharest is not so "hit" mostly because of the politicians need for their 3 million votes.
