We don't create definitions based on what people would like. If Pluto was to be kept as a planet, we would have more than 9 planets and thus have this issue again since you would lose your biblical niceties. So it is a no win situation with you.

Apparently the number 9 is the number of divine completeness, so having what used to be the 9th planet of the solar system, Pluto, demoted is, as he says, "a sore spot" for him. At least, that's what I've managed to glean from his outraged postings on the subject. He seems to have taken the demotion as a personal insult.

I always thought he brought it up as an example of science getting something 'wrong', which of course would add zero credibility to his own position even if it were true.
