This is the problem though, isn't it? If you define morality as what God says then you argue yourself into a corner here. The definition of 'moral' becomes identical to what God says, whatever it is and 'immoral' becomes obedience. It is a literal representation of a slave-master relationship. He wouldn't in my understanding of a perfect God, but if He did then He would be immoral. Might doesn't make right.

Uh, then you would think that morality is independent of God. Possibly not important. What if you label God as 'amoral'?

So if morality is based on what God orders why didn't he make things simple and order us to do the things he foreknew we would do anyway? I mean if there is no inherent right or wrong beyond his fiat why bring evil into existence by labeling certain actions evil? If he had instead called actions like rape, murder, etc.. good they would be good instead right? Just order people to do whatever they will and there would be no evil because following Gods order is good.
Well, there we are.I think that the God of the Bible could care less about morality. There's simply that which is of God and like God and that which has become unlike God. Morality is really a pretty silly concept.
So if God asked you to kill anyone, you'd do it?
Well, there we are.
I don't think anyone can top that. This is where theistic 'morality' gets you. It gets you to abject nihilism.
How do you verify if it's God and not a mental illness? If I heard an audible voice saying "kill so and so" I don't think I would attribute it to God.
If I heard a voice telling me to kill I would assume it was demonic or mental illness.
That's good. I'm not sure some of the people in OT would have thought that way though. It seemed a pretty accepted thing that God sometimes orders Israelites to kill for God. Even to the point of putting infants to the sword. How exactly did they get their orders?
By communicating to you. I'm sure God, if he exists is capable. How would he ask me?
