I believe I agree with the OP. Romans 13 does say "...for there is no authority except that which God has established." If God didn't want him elected, he wouldn't have been elected. It's impossible for us to know, however, why God allowed him to be elected... maybe somewhere down the road, we'll understand.

Im sorry... but I disagree with the entire premise of this thread. I believe the stance that "everything happens according to the will of God" is based on both a faulty understanding of God and a faulty understanding of what God being "in control" means.

God is not to blame for what disobedient man does.

There are many examples in Scripture of man making choices that are outside of what God desires. Sure - He works those poor choices out for our best... but that is much different from saying that it was actually His plan to begin with.

It wasn't God's desire (or will) that they be ruled under a monarch system... it caused much grief and led them astray for generations... It wasn't God's plan for that to happen... but He gave them over to their disobedient desires. That was His choice.

IF (as many are saying) everything that happens, only happens along God's will... then we have to somehow explain 1 Tim 2:4.

True - but there is a big difference from saying that it was God's will... vs. saying that God used disobedient choices for His purposes.

One assumes God is responsible
while the other places the responsibility into the hands of the one making the decision - with God fully willing and able to turn that poor choice around for good.

To me... the distinction is huge.

The office of President isn't about religion, it's about who would best run the country. After all, aren't church and state supposed to be separate?

Saved by grace, under the blood of Christ, not under the curse of the law. But if we don't walk in obedience to God we fall under the curse then,

Does any one really think we will separate our God that we worship,turn our backs and support ungodly leaders?

GOD's will is not determined by elections. The peoples' will is determined by elections. Consider that Hitler was democratically elected, certainly NOT GOD's will. GOD's people, Israel, demanded a King, despite GOD's clear warning, and in direct rebellion to GOD's plan, insisted and GOD gave in to THEIR will. Not everything that happens on this earth is GOD's will. So, let's steer clear of claiming "GOD's will was done", no matter what happens. Ultimately, in the long view of prophetic fulfillment, GOD will have the last Word.

Galatians chapter 3 verse 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say and to seeds , meaning many people, but and to your seed meaning one person, who is Christ.
So back when Abraham was alive God knew he was going to use him and David to bring Christ into the world, even though it was the peoples choice to have a king. And back then he knew Mr. Obama would be president, so he's also going to use him for his good and our good if we love God.
But then again I guess your right I can't say it was Gods will and you can't say it wasn't Gods the only one who can say.
But at least it's not a false religion in office controlled by Satan.
