In my opinion, evolution will be the Antichrist's trump card in getting scientists to take the Mark of the Beast.
They need the Mark of the Beast in order to buy or sell. What does that have to do with evolution? I already ran into this with the new health care laws. They have very strict requirements to keep very accurate records of everything you buy and sell. If you do not have a record of what you payed for an item then you have to pay taxes on the full amount that you sell that item for. This is already in effect. If for example you hire someone to do more then $750 worth of work then you are required by law to file a form with the IRS to notify them that you paid that money to someone. So the IRS knows to tell them to pay the taxes on that money.

If this is the way it is NOW then can you imagine how it will be during the tribulation. Of course we will not be here then, so we do not have to worry about it. I had a pastor that believed that during the trib they will be chopping off hands and feet. There is a small amount of that today.

"PUPILS at Islamic schools across Britain are being taught how to chop off a criminal's hand " Islamization Watch: UK: Today's lesson at Islamic school: how to cut off criminal's hand

Of course it does not matter how much you warn people about what is coming. They still do not seem to want to listen.

As I understand it, during the first 3½ years of the Tribulation, the Mark will be voluntary, afterward that, when the Antichrist reveals himself as such, the Mark will become mandatory.

When your talking about 3 1/2 years I see this as the antichrist that has authority over the temple mount. At first they will just sent up a tent so the sacrifices will begin. As they build the temple. The temple will be finished in 3 1/2 years but the sacrifices will stop. Of course this all has symbolic meaning for the church. The true church will be raptured out of here, but the harlot church will still be here during the tribulation.

Sounds plausible to me! :)

Do either of you realise how silly and paranoid this all sounds?

I don't mean to be offensive, but come on. You're just making up apocalyptical nonsense. Why not just say: "My cat caught a mouse this morning? I think this is a sign that the End Times are upon us, where zombies will rise up from the graves and devour us all". It has as much grounding in reality.

Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy were natural disasters and nothing more. There have been hurricanes before and there will be more. There is absolutely no cause to read apocalyptic prophesies into them, or any scientific theory.

Again, not wanting to sound insulting, but with open and sober sincerity, you are sounding genuinely paranoid and more than a little unhinged.

It's such a nice tactic. Firmly state your belief that "something very very bad will happen, and it will involve people I don't like. This is a prime reason not to like those people. See what they will be doing!"

We prefer to call it "basic doctrine," rather than the more scientific moniker that higher aceldama [evidently] assigns to it.

Either that, or it's basic doctrine.

How is this "paranoid" there is a temple authority RIGHT NOW at the temple mount in Jerusalem. A real person with a REAL job to do. Every year a group of Sanhedrin tries to set a cornerstone on the temple mount to begin to rebuilt the temple. Usually they are chased off, sometimes they are arrested. In case you have not heard there is a real live conflict between the temple mount authorities that happens to be Muslim and the Hebrews that would like to take control of the temple mount.

There is always conflict in the Middle East and very powerful weapons involved. Do you remember the Gulf war when Iraq was using rockets against Israel?

Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy were natural disasters and nothing more.
Natural disasters caused by global warming and a lot more is expected. Also this is going down a lot sooner then expected. Katrina was not suppose to be for 35 years. Sandy was not suppose to happen for 60 to 100 years. Last summer when we had all that heat I was telling people that something somewhere was going to flood. Then recently I said it was going to be the East Coast between Baltimore and Boston. I do not see how anyone can deny what happened. I do not understand how you can call us paranoid for warning people ahead of time that it was going to happen. Well, science actually issued the warning, we went along with science and agreed on those points.

Actually I was expecting more in the way of man made disaster after the election. As far as natural disaster this hit a bit early. Either way, man made or natural, people need to be prepared and be ready. They need to have candles and back up batteries and a little food. The day will come when you can not depend on your power grid at all. People will need to get off the gird and be independent and supply all their own power needs.

Or if you think science can take a hike then get a tent and camp out. We do not need all of that fancy living anyways.

AV, Pluto is no longer a planet because it does not fit the modern definition of a planet. If Pluto is classified as a planet, so must its moons be classified planets as well. Get over it.
Annoying isn't it?
He won't stop. He is deliberately trying to agitate people. He has been doing this same routine for years. At best, lurkers to these threads may learn from you.

AV learning anything ?
I doubt it very much.

Absolutely ... "fact" is a relative term.

Just like Phlogiston was a "fact", Pluto being our 9th planet was a "fact", Thalidomide being a prenatal wonder drug was a "fact", and L'Aquila was safe to stay in was a "fact".
Such pleasure from you in the face of human death. Sad.

You can not really falsify the rapture, it would just become symbolic and not literal. Do we not hear that fifty million billion times right here on this very board? It is not literal, it is symbolic, so they claim it is not real just a myth or a story that people tell each other, a product of the imagination.

Of course the storm that hit New Orleans and the storm that hit NY were very real. But perhaps we should say there were symbolic and were not a implication of the sin that goes on in those places. David Wilkerson and Grant Jeffery may not be with us anymore. But the storms they told us about are very much still coming our way.
Jazer, the Bible Belt gets hit quite often by tornadoes. Is that weather or God's punishment?

And if there is no rapture, it remains fact?

Rapture or not, ALL of Christianity is based on the Resurrection. If we are NOT raised from the dead, then we all die and that is the end of it. There is no eternal life without the Resurrection. Our atoms are going to be resurrected. Even if you cremate the body and scatter the atoms all over the world, God at a point in time will bring them all back together again.

This is the story of Jesus and the fish. The disciples thought he was Spirit and did not have a physical body. So he ate fish to show them that HE had a physical body and His actual body was raised from the dead. People will eat the fruit from the tree of life and they will be healed and live forever.

From what I understand, other than a bible story, there is no evidence that the resurrection ever happened. Is that right, Jazer?

Nice use of terms here....

So what is a "fact"? Does it say anything about it's truth value if something is a "fact"?

Accoring to AV, something IS a fact until it is falsified. So until falsified, Pluto WAS a planet, Thalidomide WAS a wonder drug and Phlogiston WAS the correct explanation for thermodynamic processes.

And if the rapture is a fact in the same category...

It seems every time AV is shown how ridiculous his assumptions about science and the scientific method are, he goes way off topic citing Pluto, Thalidomide and Phlogiston being bad science, therefore all science is bad.
