  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been looking to see if Foxworthy is the author of this piece in the OP. WHat I've found are several thousand reposts of this all attributing it to Foxworthy, and one post from Dec 2009 with no attribution to anyone. Anyone else been able to verify the author or is still just conjecture at this point?

Recently, while I was working in the vege beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberals, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride.

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her.

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

 That says it all.

Jeff Foxworthy did not write the 'jokes' in the OP. I wonder if the OP author will edit the OP to make the post accurate?

How dost thou know?

When someone can verify that to be true I would gladly edit the OP. And, who the author is has no bearing on the accuracy of the thoughts it contains.

I checked too and didn't find a thing. If it was real, you'd find something.

OK, but did you actually look at the evidence I posted - a nonpartisan study showing that, based on objectively verified facts, that fox viewers were most likely to be simply wrong about the facts?

I showed objective evidence related to your still unsupported claim that "the Repulican way is intertwined with the truth". You have no response based on evidence?

And you didn't reply as to whether or not you are a man-made global warming denier or not. That's another easy place to see if your "Republican way is intertwined with the truth". In other words, to see if you'll go with what is objectively true, regardless of whether or not it supports the politicians you like.

You left out a bit:
The homeless guy was a Vietnam Vet who doesn't have any legs and thus can't mow anything.

See whitestone12? Is it possible to make fun of liberals and be mildly amusing at the same time. Keep in mind that I do have SNL Weekend Update in my corner and they top the best comedians from your party any day.

That's strange. I didn't see anyone being "made fun of" or "amusement" in that post. I saw truth being revealed through the mouths of babes and the teaching of a gardener.

If you post a thread crediting a specific writer for the material, it is your responsibility to verify that the writer in question did in fact write the material.

Seeing as how Jeff Foxworthy is not really the point of the thread, I would have excluded his name and posted as an unknown. It would not be too difficult to do, unless you believe that it makes the content better to say that Foxworthy wrote it?

They always complain about Fox viewers - but somehow the figures just don't add up - Fox has more viewers than the other 3 combined - someone is doing something right. I switched on the other 3 channels the other night just to see what they were saying - believe it or not - all three stations was reporting the same lie - Romney says he don't care about 47 % of the people.

My experience is that a lot of my liberal friends take offense on the behalf of others when no offense was intended or even implied. The perfect example is the never ending charges of racism

True. Oddly today when someone takes note of various races it becomes racism. Go figure.

Notice anything wrong?

I can post hundreds or thousands of examples of how Fox is wrong. I suppose if you like being lied to, then its great.

Many years ago I saw one of those "homeless" guys standing in front of an ARCO AM/PM station. He was holding one of those signs, "WILL WORK FOR FOOD." He was standing right under the ARCO sign that said, "NOW HIRING".

Do you have a link to those lies you witnessed, or must we once again have to take your word on the matter?

Really? Usually if it is false you always find something.

However, shouldn't you deal with the words within rather than Foxworthy?
The post I quoted in post #56 deals with it just fine.

As far as who the author is, it's unusual not to be able to verify it either way. My lengthy personal experience leads me to believe it's bogus. I'm a Foxworthy fan to boot. So I'd really like to know one way or the other.

The Foxworthy quote in the OP appears on Foxworthy's facebook page. I'd bet if he didn't write it, it would not have been allowed to stay for as long as it has. Conclusive proof? no. But more than I've seen from those claiming any other author.
You just said that inaccurate proof is better than no proof! :D
