The article is good but think it goes a little too far in saying the US aided the same people that attacked them. The extremists/salafists only make up a tiny amount of the people of libya/egypt. WIth that though there a lot of people in the 'fence sitter' region who can be easily swayed to join the salafists side through propaganda and misinformation. I would go far as to say that the movie may have been made by an individual who is pro-islam as the actors stated who spoke in arabic and tricked them into the movie. Something released like this brings about a spark in motivation for those fence sitter types to join the salafists side attempting to acheive an international Caliphate with extreme Islamism. Could diff be wrong about the guy being pro-Islam..but diff was looking for a reaction.

Thank you for posting the information, links, and articles. Most people here in the US still have no clue what the movie trailer was, days after the attack. It is hard to believe that riots would be incited there, unless they were intentionally shown this trailer by someone trying to provoke.

BTW the film was so quickly and carelessly made that it can barely even be mistaken for a home movie. It is hard to believe that people around the world who watch US movies (or maybe they don't) would mistake this for any sort of official statement or public opinion. It might have hints of Police Academy slapstick, but almost thirty years later we are to believe that poorer quality acting and filming represents a popular US movie?

Listen to representatives from both countries, and they are certainly not contentious:

Thank you.

Apparently this story is exclusive to the The Independent UK.

Revealed: inside story of US envoy's assassination - World Politics - World - The Independent

...
According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.
...
Pretty darn vague.
I would of expected better from The Independent.

The news I watched last night seemed to illuminate the producer as a career criminal
identity thief that turned his hate of Islam into a movie.

No matter what his history, I support his right to make this movie even if it causes a war.

Some have offered a challenge to prove his claims in the movie wrong.

It looks like he likely violated his parole in making the movie and using a fake name:

During a five-year probation period, [the moron] is only allowed to use identification with his true legal name; can’t have a device with online access without prior approval; can only use computers, screen or user names, passwords and e-mail accounts that have been approved by his probation officer; and can only use approved computers for his work, according to court records.

If the Coptic man has violated his bail, then he absolutely should be punished for it. Although, these attacks don't seem credible when it is said they are over a badly made film. I'd say it's probably true that it was coordinated and the film was a convenient excuse.

Savages don't need a reason.

The Egyptian President is saying that the USA need to stop people from insulting their prophet..how in the world will the government be able to do that. They are really insulting people's intelligence. I could not believe it.

Egypt has urge
d the United States to take steps to prevent any repeat of the offence caused by an internet film which mocked Islam, sparking protests across the Arab world and beyond.

The Egyptian prime minister, Hisham Qandil, told the BBC Arabic that millions of people had been insulted.

He said it was "unacceptable to insult our Prophet" but also not right for peaceful protests to turn violent
.

I hope he condemns Muslims who burn homes and kill Christians.

I don't know that I buy that reason. I've seen several reports that are indicating it was a coordinated attack and the movie thing is just an excuse.

What if everyone who was insulted or their religion insulted had to react like these thugs...what would happen to civil society. These people need to grow up. These are an ignorant bunch. They can curse Jesus, burn the Christian's bible and you do not see Christian's reacting this way.

Why don't they try it in France.:sorry:

Perhaps because Australia is an American ally / not an Islamic theocracy we therefore condone this film?

To my knowledge no Australians were in any way involved with this film. If these protestors thought they would gain any sympathy from the average Aussie they have achieved the exact opposite. Muslim protest in Sydney turns violent - YouTube

P.S I see they were outside the US consulate therefore directed towards USA instead of Australia. Still pretty irrational to think this type of protest would achieve anything but a backlash.
