  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just out of curiousity, would you let this doctrine invade your church?

So if people brought this teaching, with the things in the op, would you just sort of write it off as goofy?:)

We have had some come wearing a talit, some wearing tattoos, some wearing really questionable things. None are doctrine, none flourish. We just love on them and teach and demonstrate the Word.

Some respond and we see God do great things through them and some respond and we don't see them any more.

We are called to be fishers of men, not cleaners of fish.

Paul cleaned house. I'm suprised you don't see the behind all this?:)

So in it's early stages, you would let the leaven start in your church? They were incrementally doing so in Galatia.

Who stands firm on condemning tallit...
All things are pure...
Only God is worthy to judge, wear anything your heart is inclined.
None is above God. Mere man is only judged by God and God alone. We accept all of you and if some desire to destroy us, please God, your will alone be done.
God is the only good.

as far as all things pure, you might want to understand the context a bit..

titus 1:12 One of the Cretans,[h] a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons".13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth.

Of course not. Nor do I slaughter animals as part of my worship. I am grateful to be a Gentile and do not want to be a Hebrew. Christ has freed me from such religious rites and broken down the middle wall of partition (the Law) that separated me from Jewish people. :)

Do you even go to church?

Do i congregate? yes.

Would i let anyone come and distract from faith, by adding legalism? No. With all due respect, I would think that as a man of great faith:), you would know that when the tallit people came, there went faith outta the congregation. I like to protect faith.

People can wear whatever they want, none of my business, but my problem with it, is that those who are infusing Messianic Judaism in our charismatic churches, say that if we do wear it, we will "get the anointing".

So that means that those who don't wear the garment are not getting the ???
No it doesn't. That is a logical fallacy to assume the opposite of a truth is also truth! You can't imply anything by turning a statement around.

They say it, buy the tallit to gain the anointing. Paul used Abraham in a big way, to get the judaizers out of the church.

And he used the receiving of the Spirit, to show it did not come by works, so we don't need addons to the Gospel.

Gal 3:2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?

Gifts don't need garments worn either.

3:5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—

It is my opinion that God sometimes uses the anointing to get us to try new things our theological minds would otherwise reject. This is the case with revivals, where new doctrines and new denominations are typically formed.

I have felt a special anointing when wearing the talit. I was surprised, so I followed the Spirit (imo) and looked deeper into the Messianic teachings. And I was undeniably blessed!

We read the OT scriptures because we believe they are a message from God. Yet to the people back in those days, reading and writing were not a normal part of their lives. They did not carry around the Word of God in a book, but communicated the knowledge of God through ritual. These rituals are what we know as the Law, and mandating that someone keep the Law is error. But to study the Law is a blessing, which is carried not only through the scriptures but also through the traditions that have been passed on from parent to child for generations in the Jewish traditions.

It does take the Holy Spirit to discern that which is of God and that which is of Man, but the same applies to our own Christian traditions build solely upon the Bible.

If one feels the anointing, and they say they do while hugging a teddy bear, that is their personal business, really...I mean it.:)

But what the fusion teaching does, is say that one should, or needs to to said acts instead of teaching about being raised up in Christ, something 100 times better, and pure NT theology too.

Paul preached the risen Christ in us, in all it's wonderful simplicity.

Is it the power of the resurrection in Phil 3, or do we now need a tallit to be raised up?

I don't see any additions needed as far as the sin issue in Rom 6, or the gifts to function in Gal 3.

Frogster,

Walking through life with a Living God is not always conducive with a "One-Size-Fits-All" type of Christianity mindset. He is perfectly free to ask one thing of one person, and something completely different from someone else. If you are not feeling called to wear a talit and/or explore Messianic Judaism, then by all means don't do it!

No one is special in God's Kingdom. Jews do not have a privileged place through birthright, nor do people who happen to study their traditions. Those who learn Greek and Hebrew simply know Greek and Hebrew.

Obedience is the key. God asks certain things of us, and if we disobey we will not be happy. There is nothing wrong with sailing on a ship to Tarsus, unless you are Jonah and God has sent you to Nineveh but you are running away!

The key to a deeper (and more special) relationship with God is in being obedient to what He asks of us. For those who feel called to wear the talit, they may indeed feel as special anointing when they are obedient. This is typical for how God works. He communicates with us in this manner. When we accept the sign as directions given by Him, then we can pursue the path toward the next logical step. Baring in mind that we keep checking in with Him to make sure we go only as far as He is sending us!

The same method might be used to lead us to a new church. We might feel a special anointing when we go there, even if others around us feel nothing. Not everybody is called to do the exact same thing! So we can't just follow someone else's personal leading of the HS, because it may not include us. But when we are led to a new church by God we can still lose our way, if we forget that we followed Him and immerse ourselves in ministry ambitions and/or forget to keep following when He says it's time to leave.
