  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They knew Dan Cathy was a Christian from the start and he never hid it...Why did they choose now to persecute this guy? All he said is he believes in a one man one woman marriage because the bible confirms it and thats the right way to have a functioning house hold...Why try and bash the guy for exercising his first admendment and not even in a hateful fashion towards the gays...Yet they know the guy who owns most of the oil for the oil companies is a muslim yet they dont try to put him on the spot so he can say we put gay people to death on site....I guess boycotting chicken is alot easier then gas

Speaking for myself, I've eaten at the restaurant that just opened here this past winter but once. Well before I learned this bit of news about Cathy's political predisposition.

I don't hate Mr.Cathy. And it would be absurd to hate the restaurant.

What I object to as a consumer is giving my hard earned money to a company that has established a tax exempt arm of it's self, so as to take the proceeds from the retail business end and commit those consumer monies to select groups dedicated to pursuit of lawful discrimination and anti-American values relative to vacating the entitlement of citizen civil rights to a minority class of citizens. Based on an anti-Christ heresy that fosters a doctrinal proposition and call for action in the secular community so as to insure legislation that represents intolerance, hate and discrimination!

So that consumer monies grossed from the sale of chicken, an irony in itself, is used to bolster the anti-American platform of said charitable arm of Chick-Fil-A and it's affiliates whom it supports, so that lawful discrimination continues unabated and liberty, equality and civil right insurance is denied to Gay citizens of America.

People in the community of Christ fear the coming of the "Mark of the Beast".
It's already here.
It's the money printed on it's back with "In God We Trust". That paper that is actually counterfeit and yet is used to commit all sorts of abominations in this what is mistakenly purported by those ignorant of the truth to be a, 'Christian nation'.

The Mark then is witnessed in the expenditure of that paper by those who ascribe to an anti-Christ blasphemous doctrine and pursue an anti-American agenda, thinking waving the green cash toward their Satanic goal will garner them the victory in the name of the Beast whom inspired the expenditure. Gay lawful discrimination.

It's an evil that's plagued this nation since it's inception. And in this new century the light is a little brighter now, so as to see it coming. It's been overcome before and it has but to be thwarted one more time, so as to put it in it's place where it's belonged all along.
As a reminder in history.Freedom is not a religious issue. However, bigotry was but one sin Christ did condemn.

Cathy has every right to his opinion.
He has no right to his opinion enslaving any American to it.

What I want to know is, why would anyone eat food a place with a name like Chickafila?

Simply put the chicken tastes good. However as Amber Bird said, the problem isnt so much as what the CEO said as it is with the money they donate to organizations that fight the inclusion of GLBT into anti-bullying bills and mariage equality.

Dont get me wrong, they have every right to say what they want and to donate their money where they want. However, the GLBT community has every right to not spend their money at that establishment and every right to inform others in hopes that they will also stop spending money there.

First, it's not "consumer money". Once a customer buys a meal it is Chick-fil-As money and that company can do whatever they want with their money. Secondly there is absolutely nothing "anti-Christ" or "anti-American" about standing with God on the matter of marriage and homosexuality. What is really wrong is for homosexuals and their supporters to call those who oppose their lifestyle "haters", "bigots" and "homo phobics" (a word made up by the homosexual community to make those who stand with God appear to have a mental problem).

They chose now to persecute Dan Cathy because the gay agenda has been successfully pushed far enough along that it's now the cool thing to be pro-gay and evil to be pro-God. Godlessness spreads faster than a wildfire.

This has nothing to do with the First Amendment. It has everything to do with political correctness.

Same with Muslims. Thanks in part to the President's overtures, it's PC to be pro-Muslim.

If a commercial company makes a stand on an contraversial issue then it can expect positive reaction from those who agree and negative from those who disagree.

Remembers several odd years ago the response of "Gay Day" at Disney World--an officially unrecognized day by the Disney corporation that nonetheless at times been a target of vitriolic mouth-spew and a boycott or twelve.

And does that right extend to preventing the company from doing business like other companies do in Chicago or Boston, etc.?

THAT was the issue, not whether gays choose to eat there or not. And no one gave a hoot that a few protesters kissed outside the restaurants.

I wasn't aware that anyone was being "persecuted."

Chick-fil-A didn't release sales numbers from the recent Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, but a company press release described it as "an unprecedented day."

That doesn't sound like persecution to me.

Wasn't that event--which was not created, sponsored, or promoted by the Chick-Fil-A company--a response to something?

It was a response to criticism, some of it coming government officials in a few places. However, I don't think that it was a response to what could in any way be described as persecution.

What Hitler and the Nazis did to the Jews was persecution. I don't think that this qualifies.

BTW, I don't believe that I said that the event was "created, sponsored, or promoted by the Chick-Fil-A company"

OK, but what I read in your previous post...
I wasn't aware that anyone was being "persecuted."

Chick-fil-A didn't release sales numbers from the recent Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, but a company press release described it as "an unprecedented day."

...was that the sales on that day when people came forth to support
Chick-fil-A disproved any claim that there was persecution. If the issue is whether the opposition amounts to persecution, that's a different issue.

BTW, I don't believe that I said that the event was "created, sponsored, or promoted by the Chick-Fil-A company"

You didn't say that you do...and I didn't suggest that you do. What I was saying is that the event was not the company's doing, in case there's anyone who might think that the success of the event somehow makes the claim of persecution less credible. Either there was persecution or there was not; it has nothing to do with that day's sales.

The OP didnt mention the mayors in the cities indicating they might try to block Chick-fil-A from doing business there so I didnt comment on that. However I will comment on it: I dont think it is legal for a city from blocking a company from doing business there on those grounds. I appreciate he mayors expressing their opinion on the matter but I dont think they should be able to block the business.
