Protestant pastor destroys a statue he believes to be the Virgin Mary

The link below I am about to give is a Protestant Pastor who destroys a statue of Saint Terese of Luxiex, but believes it to be a " Idol "of the Virgin Mary. He claims this statue is a idol. Now notice towards the end of the video you see that he himself has stained glassed windows in his church towards the back. I guess he has " Idols " as well huh?

How disgusting. That said, I think I have seen that video before. That pastor should be ashamed of himself for attacking the Blessed Mother of God like that. And yes, I know that the statue is not actually Mary, herself but it is a representation of Mary and so by attacking a Marian statue, he is attacking Mary indirectly. Personally, I don't understand why so many fundamentalists and other Christians seem to have this hatred for the great Mother of God.

I don't think Protestants, as a group, act this way.
I don't think Protestants, as a group, are "ignorant."
I wonder if your statement, like the actions of this man, need reconsideration?
Could it be, maybe, sometimes, well meaning people say and do things that... well.... perhaps should not have been?


I do not feel this man is attacking Our Lady or the Roman Catholic Church. In HIS opinion, he is destroying an idol (He has a lot of OT company on the issue of destroying idols). Now, I WHOLLY agree that this is NOT an idol and that he is mistaken. The result was something hurtful - and that is sad. When people - whether they be Catholic, Protestant or whatever - act out of a mistaken view, that, IMO, is unfortunate and at times hurtful, however often such may happen.
