I don't follow. Reading through the wiki page Heaven's Gate looks like a mishmash of extremist religion added to a load of new age nonsense. Both extremist religion and new age stuff are most popular among the same educational sector. I'm completely missing the point you are making.

Those 39 people who died were mainly webmasters ... highly-sought webmasters.

Their website (highersource), was a state-of-the-art piece of work.

In short, those people had the smarts of mensa and the creativity of mad scientists.

They are indicative of people who can have a high IQ and be religious at the same time.

Of course, [the late] Mr. Henry Morris and others are swept under the carpet by Internet scientists; but Heaven's Gate is hard to sweep away.

You can be religious and educated.
You can be religious and uneducated.
You can be non-religious and educated.
You can be non-religious and uneducated.

Science does not back him up. They can show that religion develops parts of the brain that clearly he never developed. Areas he would show a flat line on a brain scan. Simply making him less functional then religious people.

Creationists don't like evolution because it shows how ridiculous their belief is and science because for them it's hard.

I disagree, Creationists don't like evolution because it conflicts with their view of Genesis 1. If you wish to think believing in God is ridiculous, your opinion is noted, and one of a minority, whether valid or not. Nevertheless, I do understand what you are trying to convey, I just disagree with your approach.

I see, in reviewing my profile I didn't notice under the choices for life origins the word evolution off-set just below Theist. I thought I was just checking theist. From the choices available I guess that is closest to my beliefs except, I would prefer to drop the word evolutionist and just indicate Theist. When gets into describing theistic evolution I can imagine many different versions. I prefer to be known as one who just understands the theory of evolution.
