"So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, “Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do,” you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed.

Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male. And when your daughter starts acting to Butch you reign her in. And you say, “Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl and that means you are going to be beautiful. You are going to be attractive. You are going to dress yourself up.”

It's pretty obvious from that context that's he talking about attention-getting punch to the shoulder or chest, not a sucker-punch to the face. The chest is very strong muscle and can easily take a punch. When I first started lifting weights I dropped a 225 lb barbell on my chest and barely felt a thing, I just adjusted my grip and finished the set. A jab in the chest isn't going to hurt anyone. My brother and I do it to each other all the time, and he's a stick figure compared to me.

Not surprising. There was another pastor that ordered his congregation to "sick" (attack and beat) his son and his son's boyfriend.

Given that the instruction to punch the kid came after an instruction to "crack [their] wrist" the context does not suggest genteelness to me.

Umm... yes it does. The back of the hand and wrist is one of the more sensitive areas of the body, therefore you can easily cause some brief pain to get someone's attention without causing any actual damage, same idea as spanking.

Then he should have said "spanking", though even spanking a child for precieved "girly behavior" seems rather horrible.

How can a four year old act femmy anyway? If it's not genetic then what is the father doing to make the kid do that in the first place?

And for girls he expected them to be punished for acting "butch"? But what is butch anyway, wearing pants, enjoying sports, playing with trucks, or getting a short haircut? It's pretty clear he was saying "make them stop liking other girls" with physical correction.

And notice it's only a single sexual sin, notice no pastors are suggestiing girls get slapped, spanked, whatever for getting knocked up or giving a son a punch for pre-marital sex. We don't treat adulterers this way even... in fact we elect them to office.

Apparently it's ok to start beating your children at the first sign of the possibility that they might be gay.

As I said in the other thread about this, the church that this man heads runs a school as well. I hope that no homosexual kids, or those just perceived to be that way, have the misfortune of being trapped in that school.

The really sad part is that he doesn't seem to understand that gender expression has nothing to do with a person being gay or straight. Even sadder that no one here seems to have realized it either.

As someone who believes gender roles (and, as such, stigmas and taboos about gender expression) are a wild load of crap, I take exception to this statement
