  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A man at the end

Humble yourself and make it happen. There's work out there for those who aren't too full of pride to work in fast food, gas stations, retail, etc.

You don't have to live in a castle when a hut does the same function for far less.

Wages can only be garnished up to 40% gross, btw...at least in the USA.
I have a job, I took a lower paying job when I lost the higher paying one, but/and I recently got a huge garnishment taken out of my checks. I live in a trailer, we have one car. But even with my Job I can't make it, or with another Job due to these damn garnishments. I don't get enough to go round and pay all the bills, attrition is catching up to me. Help.

ya, and another one who portrays him/herself to know whats in the heart of the person here....'your not born again, so your not a chrisitan, your a sinner',...sigh....

some of us christians do not believe we are perfect once 'saved', i am born again, and i am still a sinner....i often wonder how nice it must be to not be able to sin anymore....only the 'holier than thou crowd' know how that feels....

He told us what is in his heart; he isnt born again. If you're not born again, you don't know the Lord. I didn't say that I never sin, or that Christians will never sin. What I said was, until he receives the Holy Spirit, he will not be able to stop sinning.

We all screw up, it doesn't mean that there is any excuse for it. The Holy Spirit delivered me from many sins that I had done in my previous life. I don't do them anymore. Hopefully it is the same for you. If you're living the same way you were living before, something is wrong. Though we may never see perfection, we also must never settle for imperfection. That is what the Lord commanded us to do.

You have no right to make that judgment. Only God knows his heart. You are making a big deal out of the phrase "born again". I suspect you are requiring people to meet some sort of requirements set forth by whatever church you attend before you consider them "born again". In doing that you may not only make the OP feel like he's not saved but you make yourself look like a "holier than thou" know-it-all.

Then I would start with debt counseling if you haven't already.

well it seems to me, correct me if im wrong, that your somehow implying that 'well i stopped doing the sins i was doing before, after being 'born again', and occasionally do other new ones, but their not the same as the old ones? so its not as bad? thats about all i took away from your rant..and imo, it makes no sense.

ive always been taught, the bible says all sins are bad, and doesnt really make any distinction about what sins are 'better', or should i say, not as bad as others...so if your still sinning, you 'might as well' be doing the ones you were doing before, because, i dont think God makes a distinction between 'good sins', and 'bad sins', so again i dont really follow your logic.

further, agree with prev post about what you mean by 'born again', my dad was a 'born again' zealot, who held that term as the holy grail, and let it define him and his life, instead of acknowledging that humans are not able to read anothers heart, and that is for God to do....and im quite sure He doesnt need you doing His job for Him.;)

Jesus made a big deal out of it:

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

You either haven't been reading his posts, or you're just here to be divisive; either way, in his own words, he isn't born again. According to Jesus that means he will not see the Kingdom of God. Maybe that doesn't bother you, but it bothers me, so I told Him what to do so He will be saved. That doesn't make me a "holier than thou" know it all. You're here arguing with me, insinuating unkind things about me, and ignoring the plight of your brother in Christ who is hurting and confused. What exactly is your purpose in this thread?

I didn't say one kind of sin was better or worse than any other. Even one sin is bad enough. What I am saying is that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome sin in our lives. We are supposed to grow and mature in the faith, and live sanctified lives. If you're sinning as you were before you got saved, then something is wrong. We all sin, but it should be infrequent, and it should be repented of. We may never see perfection, but we are commanded never to settle for imperfection.

If you're not born again, you aren't saved, end of story. No, I have no idea what is in someones heart; but in this case, again, he told me what is in his heart. He has also said similar things in many other posts. On that basis, I told him how to be saved. Read some of his other posts, and pray for the Holy Spirit to give you discernment if you cannot see the obvious.

I read two screens of advice and all of what has been written seems to be so spiritually minded that none of it is of any earthly good. Why in Jesus name does this man need another sermon or more and more biblical quotes? What he needs is some help, not sermonizing.

Whatever part of the country he is in, he should seek out those services that are able to take him in, perhaps a place that is faith based. I didn't read whether or not this man is a veteran of the military. If so, there is a homeless program functioning within most VA hospitals. They treat a vet well and even provide a roof over his head.

Some cities now have tent cities where the homeless go to live until they can find employment and a better situation. He can ask the city about that. Or, as one fellow mentioned, check the Salvation Army. They have certain rules, but you can live with them.

There are so many people on the intersections in most cities these days with signs reading "homeless, need work" or "hungry, I need to eat." Some of these folks make pretty good money. If I had to, I'd be doing the same.

I was homeless for 8 years myself, I don't advise that either. So let's try this on for size.

Leviticus 25:35-36
“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you,you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God,that your brother may live beside you.

Matthew 25:34-40
Then the King will say to those on his right,‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food,I was thirsty and you gave me drink,I was a stranger and you welcomed me,I was naked and you clothed me,I was sick and you visited me,I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying,‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you,or naked and clothe you?
Isaiah 58:6-8
Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness,to undo the straps of the yoke,to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him,and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

i dont need to read any of his other posts...he is obviously in need of help, which i have offered prayer and a few suggestions, as thats all i can think of, and do for him at this point...as far as his other posts, what relevance does that have? he is obviously here in a christian forum, seeking the advice of fellow christians, therefore, i think it safe to say, he is being led by the Holyspirit, which i therefore conclude is in him....for if it werent, imho, he would certainly not be in a cf, and would probably be out asking questions on yahoo or something, or even doing something worse...it is situations like these (desperation, hopeless situations), that have lead many to become atheists, believing God has abadoned them, and therefore believe He doesnt exist, or is unworthy of worship for allowing them to falter....

i agree hopeinGod, i was only posting in defense of the op, and pointing out the same as you have stated, only in a different way...it makes no difference to me whether hes a christian or not, i have empathy and will pray for anyone, regardless of their faith, or whether they are 'born again'.
peace

Does someone even have to be a christain to get help?
The poor guy is about to lose his home and we sit here and discuss whether he sinned!? How do you know we are not the ones being tested?
Thank you (girls), careful, you other guys are beginning to sound a bit like Pharasies, discussing the "level" of my sin, so as to make my case a case of judgment. I welcome any and all replies though, and appreciate the time and effort one puts into a post.

It seems my sin is in question, my sin is not greater than that of any other man, I have overcome some things, some "sins" in my life, but I have yet to nip in the bud, a simple thing like smoking. But make no mistake about it, I have overcome certain sins that I use to do in life.

I used to surround myself with believers by going to church, but I found the churches to be much of the same thing here, matters like wanting to measure ones sin out, so as to make their cases, cases for judgment, and trying to settle whether the matter was just or not, "Do not Judge" remember. And, this world is not just, we must remember that too.

I don't feel it's justified that I should lose my home, and my love (wifey). But, People are treated unjustly in this world all the time, and many have it a lot worse off than me, I am aware of that.

I came here because I love Christians, there the people that are there to lift another one up from the ground, to console and comfort people, to help people start over. I love the giving hearts and spirits among Christians, I would love to be one of them (one of the ones "able" to offer help) but right now I am one in need.

If I ever get my life turned around someday, I hope to be able to be in a position where I can be one of the ones helping others out. I consider Christians (all Christians) my brothers, and I came to my brothers in need. And I have gotten alot of helpful advice, for those of you that supplied it, thank you.

Anyways, still don't know what I'm going to do, but thank all of you for your replies

Get an extra Job, work off your debt.
If you have to live out of your car for a while, think of it as an opportunity. An opportunity to get your bills caught up and not have to make a housing payment. Cut up your credit cards, or at least put them in a bucket of ice in the freezer. I didn't read the whole thing but try finding a cheap apartment?
As a future medical professional it almost pains me to say this, but McDonald's Doubles give a lot of calories for a dollar.

Finances are matters that are part luck and part work.

If you want, you can say God's providence instead of Luck, but there is one thing about those 2 things that are the same. They can both end up for or against your wishes. You aren't ever guaranteed that God will answer your prayer with a yes. So unless you can say that you are doing everything you can in work, you have no right to rely on providence.

What's common with people who are down, is that they lose the perception to know that they control their success. You start thinking that all you're problems are external. You're problems can in reality ONLY be affected by you. Even if God delivers you, you can still make choices that take you back to where you started, OR you can do what is necessary to get out of it.

you should still be able to check your inbox, i believe...you dont need to send one, you need to recv the one thats there....if your having problems finding it, or opening it, check with the member services post forum/post, it is towards the top of the main page which shows all the different forums....it says 'member services', if you post a question there, they will get back to you as to how to remedy the problem....good luck.
