  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Everyone,

As you know, my mom has been through A LOT in the last seven years:
two complete knee replacements, rotator cuff surgery from a bad fall, Parkinson's Disease, back surgery this year repairing a few damaged discs, and now a hip replacement.

My mom is so upset and nervous tonight that her Parkinson's is on fire. She's almost in a panic. She is very depressed and can't digest all that she's gone through. She reaches out to the Lord in prayer but just is in such awesome, raw pain that she is miserable. This hip surgery is supposed to really give her relief.

I'll be getting up at around 4:30 am and going to meet her at the hospital. Surgery is bright and early. My mom is very fragile right now and in serious need of prayer.

Can everyone offer up a really good prayer for her please? I thank you all so much here at TAW for your warm prayers always....

God bless you all,

Scott (aka gurney)

Thanks, everyone. I talked to my mom on the phone for a while tonight trying to make her laugh, talking about upbeat things, trying to encourage her, having a few laughs together. I totally calmed her down. But I know she is anxious and worried and burned out on this.

Your prayers all mean a lot!

Compared to her other orthopedic surgeries the hip surgery is not so bad, not walk the park of course but compared to the knees surgeries esp. she should have quicker, less painful recovery. I will say prayer for her to make it through her surgery safely and for a speedy recovery.

My mom had surgery today. She's doing well, though plenty of pain kicked in during the evening. She had trouble coming out of the anasthesia this morning. My mom still needs prayers, especially that the pain can be controlled and that she can rehab well.

Thanks so much, everyone!

My mom tried to walk today with the new hip. It's only the second day and they require her to try to start walking. She only took 15 steps and she had some serious pain and her blood pressure went crazy. Her BP is actually so low that she's feeling light-headed and they are giving her a slight transfusion today. My wife was with her today and I plan to visit her in a few hours. Continued prayers, candles, warm thoughts appreciated. She has a long way to go with this. She's very frustrated.

My mom is home now. Her temp is gone and BP is ok. But the pain is incredible and being at home without the tremendous amount of pain meds is killing mom. She is frustrated and really uncomfortable at this point. She is always a slow healer and this is just eating her up.

Continued prayers appreciated....
