If the awaited messiah of the Jews comes tomorrow.....would he be a false messiah if he was not Jesus?....for believers in the Christian faith....he would be false....Jesus said to be not deceive......when they say behold he is in the desert or secret chamber....do not go after him...the theme of the new testament is that Jesus is the true king and savior of Israel....all others false....past present and future

Jesus said very clearly that He will come with all the angels. You will not be able to mistake that event. I feel however that if a person arises when prophetic events are perceived to be ripe, then that person not being Jesus Christ returning from Heaven with the power of God, will most likely be the antichrist wielding the power of Satan as prophesied in Revelation. Helpful? Wrong? Thanks :)

This thread should not be called the Messiah of the Jews but, rather, the Antichrist if this is the path of discussion people wish to take. I know this might be hard to believe, but (depending on flavor of Christianity) the actions of the Antichrist in the book of Revelation would actually cause the Jews to reject that person as Messiah as well.

I have had people tell me this person will claim to be HaShem. That would cause Jews to reject him. We do not accept a man as HaShem.

The Messiah of the Jews is not the Antichrist. I am willing to say that it could be Jesus, but as of now the prophecies remain unfulfilled. I take a wait-and-see approach, since we are told by the prophets what will identify the person and nobody has completed all of the tasks.

I will post this from Wikipedia as I am hoping pulling it from an independent source will not be seen as promoting and, I am certain, Christians will be able to point to some and say Jesus did it:

I understand but basically the being continually being described is the Antichrist. In effect, we are not discussing Jewish beliefs or expectations about the Messiah described in the prophets, we are discussing Christian expectations of the Antichrist. There is a world of difference between the two.

The list does not include anything about the Temple oddly enough. I know for certain that the rebuilding of the Temple is in the Tanakh.
Are things cut and dry and plain as written or does Gd use all circumstances to work His will. I think islam has been used by Gd to keep the new nation of israel from rebuilding the temple, up til now; not that islam is correct. And islam was made to counter christianity, mentioning Christ in its scripture time and again. I tell you it is also a means of closing ears so that people no longer hear Christ or the good news because if people heard it, they could turn and be saved.

Off to work. :)

Well then let us continue to discuss the expectations of the messiah written in the prophets....that should have been the op.....for that is what i am seeking to learn from you....

It is actually a rather simple thing. In general, what Jews expect the Messiah to do, Christians expect Jesus to do in the Second Coming. Certain details such as people being judged to go to Hell are different, but the basic result is the same.
