  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This Thread Will End All Debate On The Sabbath Once And For All

The Year 2012

Well, I do think that something HUGE is going to happen in that year, can't say for sure exactly what.

Interesting to note that Revelation 20:12 is all about judgment day. Anyone else think this has meaning or just a coincidence?

The only thing that will end this debate is Jesus' return when He will compel all to observe it.
Then the law will go out from Zion/Jerusalem and all will obey.
Then it looks like this debate will go on for another 2000yrs

Paul was wrong. Pretty simple.

Not at the rate we burn threads on the subject here. BTW is this the laughable thread of the day?
What is so laughable about it.
The Sabbatarians, as well as the Jews, look at the Sabbath in a serious light

You forgot the most important one: God takes His Sabbath very serious also.
As do the Jews of today
Btw, do you keep the Saturday sabbath from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown? Just curious

I've written this before, but I'll repeat it here. The Gospel of Thomas was given a respectability it did not deserve because it was written in aramaic. It was claimed that its being written in that language dated it to the 1st century.

But aramaic is still spoken today in villages of Syria. In fact, if you want to hear aramaic, all you need to do is go to Jerusalem and then attend the Sunday service of a Syrian Orthodox Church. Their liturgy is written in aramaic.

Also, the Muratorian Fragment, containing a list of the books of the New Testament, except for James and Hebrews, and written circa 170 AD, does not list The Gosepl of Thomas as one of those books. It states that there are 4 gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) which it recognizes as genuine, as well as one book which they know to be a forgery, but The Gospel of Thomas is not listed, due to its not having been written by that date.

Did you guys ever consider this huge event backing up Sabbath keeping in the NT. What was the first thing Jesus did after he died on the cross? Answer: He rested in the grave on the Sabbath!!! Proof positive evidence that Jesus didn't do away with the Sabbath after he died on the cross. And additionally, the disciples rested on the Sabbath as well, after Jesus crucifixion proving that he never informed the before his death or after his death that the Sabbath was changed to Sunday. This is bullet proof evidence of the Sabbath's enduring nature that cannot be controverted.

Jesus wasn't resting; his body was dead. But according to St. Peter's epistle Jesus himself continued working, going into the realm of the dead to preach to them (I Peter 3:18-20).

And how long was the Sabbath when Jesus was crucified? What many Christians don't realize is that when the first day of Passover fell on Friday, the Sabbath would be 48 hours long, rather than 24 hours. The first day and the seventh day of Passover were to be identified by the Jews as Sabbath days, irregardless of what day of the week they fell on.

As I have said before, certain denominations use one verse of the Bible as bait in order to draw in others. But once those whom they have targetted are ensnared, they find a neverending list of laws and commandments which the heirarchy tells them that they must follow in order to earn their own salvation. They came after me circa 1970; that's how I know about the 'salvation on a stick' which they preach.
