  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Quoting a false prophet, are we?

I was under the assumption that there would be no more prophets after the Scriptures were completed in A.D. 96, and that that is why the Christians in Mohammad's day went to their deaths -- calling Mohammad a false prophet.

And you want us to respect his writing? no thanks.

To you guys they died for nothing, didn't they?

Do Muslims who die for Islam die for nothing?

No need to be coy. Dying for one's religious beliefs always comes down to believing that what you've been told is the truth and what other people have been told is lies. Examining how and why someone else came to believe something so strongly that they will die for it, even though you think they are wrong, can give you insight into how and why you believe just as strongly in what you believe. It might, if you are lucky, lead you to start looking at belief critically, which might then lead you to the realisation that you need an objective method to determine any differences or similarities in the reasons for your own beliefs rather than just saying "what I've been told is right and what they've been told is wrong and that's that".

Despite your lecturette, Mohammad was false prophet.

And just how does one go about determining the authenticity of a prophet?
It doesn't matter anymore, does it?

But to answer your question:

Deuteronomy 18:22a When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD,

Mohammad spoke:

  1. After the Scriptures were completed in A.D. 96.
  2. In the name of Allah.
Those who dispute the completion of the Scriptures in 96, and/or argue in favor of Allah and Jehovah being one and the same, have trouble spotting Mohammad as a false prophet.

Is it not possible that they are all false?
Depends on what you mean by "all".

Mohammad, Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White = false prophets.

Isaiah, Daniel, Jeremiah, Habakkuk = true prophets.

Hmmm...
A closed examination shows that Christians are attacked and often killed for proselytizing other people with mere words.

However, muslims die or suffer while they are attacking people who they do not even care to proselytize.

A closer reaing of Deuteronomy 18 says that a prophet will come who is like Moses, the man who walked across water on dry land and brought fire down to destroy the false worshippers, etc.

Only Elijah fits that description.

John 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

That isn't an examination of the differences or similarities in why you believe what you've been told just as strongly as they believe what they've been told.

I'm not sure Cupid has been told what to believe by anyone, either that or he's been told by everyone to believe everything.

"And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the lost."

Quran 3, 85.
What rubbish. People desired the Living God long before Islam came to exist. They desire Him long after it came to exist. They will desire Him long after it ceases to exist. There is no God beside God. Heck they believed in God before taxis existed. Heck, they believed in the Living God before Obama came to exist!

Which is as useful as showing that the bible must be true because it says it is true.

Well, from over here, it appears that each Christian writes their own version of the scriptures as they go along - dad and Cupid D leading the way. I do find it sort of fascinating, how you all try get along within the site rules.

Depends which God(s) they believed in. There is little difference between the Koran quote and Christians saying if you don't embrace Jesus you are lost.

...
There is no God beside God.
What about those other gods? You know, "Ye shall not go after other gods..."? And was his name really 'God'? That *would* get confusing when dealing with other gods.
Heck they believed in God before taxis existed.
Perhaps the english word for it, but I might suspect that carriages for hire may have existed before biblical times. :)
Heck, they believed in the Living God before Obama came to exist!
But does Obama believe in your god?
