Is touching yourself Any Worse Than Other Sins??

I've heard many things about the lust..and desiring of what's not yours and things of that nature...but I've also heard of it being helpful towards some people's needs as far as stress, relief and sleep..rather than just doing it to do it...but on top of those things Ive heard that no sin is greater than the other...so if we sin everyday and it's nearly impossible to not sin...would someone masturbating to help themselves be any worse than the sins that we commit without knowing sometimes?.....Id really like to know because ive just stopped recently..and would be afraid of going back because I hear once you stop the sin then go back..more spirits of it come back then were there before? :o

First of all, not all sins are equal. As far as where lust falls on the scale of sin, I have no idea, but in God's eyes it's still a sin, and the consequences are the same either way.

Good for you for stopping though. And in a way you can consider it worse than the sins you may not be aware of, because you are knowingly sinning, and that is like spitting straight into God's face each time you do it, in my opinion. I'm not trying to call you a bad person, I am a sinner just like everyone else here as well.

Just be able to recognize sin and turn away from it. One of the things that helps me when it's difficult to not sin is realizing what Jesus did for me, and that was much harder than anything he will ask me to do. God Bless.

Sexual sins entangle a person "emotionally", "physically" and "spiritually".

In the past I have discussed masturbation with many people and the majority of them who did it to "help themselves" continued to self pleasure even after getting married.

As for inappropriate content... the inappropriate content industry is abusive, is the problem, and it can harden your heart. Though, men and women tend to do this more when in a heated up relationship, so they are probably unconsciously thinking of the one they love under that cover.

But there are different levels of sin.

Would you agree that stealing a candy bar is not the same as raping and killing some one?

Thank you, I believe that to be true as well...I once struggled with the problem that it helped me sleep and relieve stress..yet the end result and during result felt very negative and started to effect my character and thoughts even though it did help me sleep...As if it was nothing more but spirits trying to convince me that it's the right measure to take rather then speaking to God about the situations.

Yes, this was a thing I had been thinking about for a while now...like me and my girlfriend's relationship has to be one of the hardest,strongest, but most pleasing,sweet, and successful relationship that I have ever been in. So when I do get those feelings they're usually caused by her because of my love for her as well as how greatly god has defined her and she's only 16...same age as me. Yet I must admit that last night I did slip...and I prayed and begged for forgiveness..yet I masturbated to a photo of my girlfriend and it didn't feel as dirty or incorrect as it use to when I was doing it to the sight of other women. (Realized how harmful inappropriate content was..and ceased my viewing's of it).

Yes you are right...It use to feel that way as well when I use to do it for the pleasure of myself rather than to help me at all..and It's like I could feel his disappointment with me by doing it..sometimes while and sometimes after..especially if it continued. Yet I also feel as if he always punished me in a simple but yet annoying way that I still tried to bypass..yet I never could because it's was like he was making it to be that way until I realized what I was doing is wrong. Awe, you shouldn't be sad you should be grateful that were trying to get and give information that could help move us forward in Christ. Letting us know if our ways or insights on certain things are incorrect so that we wont stumble or struggle with them by having thoughts that some reasons must be better than others.

I think there's nothing wrong with it depending on your motives or reasons for doing it. Where as like I mentioned earlier that some people claimed to do it for stress relief, to restrain from sex, to sleep, that sort of stuff. Where as some people just do it for it's precipitous feeling of pleasure, which use to be a big problem for me and began to eventually destroy my character,thoughts,emotions, and my actions.

Eh, think of it as "shameful" more like having the runs, then anything else. You don't want people to see you doing that, either.

A lot of times in relationships people will turn to inappropriate content, in a kind of subconscious "all other sex people are the same". Like 'one dog bit em so all dogs are the same'.

But, this is clearly not the case with us human individuals.

This can also get you to start creating fantasies on your love, which are designed for planning and to enrich the relationship.

The hang ups can actually be way more dangerous then the behavior. The main thing about sex is to not sleep around.

That is extremely bad. And it helps to focus on one person to do that.

Because our behavior comes from our hearts. It starts there and one ends bad behavior there.

Even small moves, heart wise, are gigantic for behavioral changes.

So, no reason to blindly go, "I should not do this on others". Doing it on others simply hurts the relationship heart wise. On her, it helps it.

Everything "wrong" has a practical reason for being wrong.

For me I felt I could do better and be better. I hated being a slave to sex. No control. I just got so tired of justifying it and finding excuses for it I prayed to God to please give me the power to stop. He did.

I'm no longer a slave to sex and it really feels great being able to say no!

Now don't get me wrong, even tho I stopped this, I am still work in progress in other areas of my walk. The point is I want to become better and try.

Is the best thing to do to overcome struggles (especially of a sexual nature) that we feel unable to control and stop sinning even when we know what God says/thinks about a given topic and we want to make the wrong choice anyway and fall into the thinking about just being forgiven and want to slide and not make the right choice is the best thing to do just to continually pray about it? To ask God to help you to overcome whatever that struggle is?

I believe that all sin is equal in the eyes of God if we break one law we are guilty of breaking all the laws. Now that being said different sins have different consequences and punishments murdering someone is going to have very harsh punishment compared to lying on a math test but both are sin to God and he hates both.

James 2:10- For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

As for the masturbation it is a sin period stay away from it. The things you listed are just excuses people are making for their sin and it is wrong. Everything we do should be to glorify God if it isn't don't do it. Masturbation does not glorify God and will hurt your future marriage so please stay away from it. It won't be easy but with God you can overcome it.
