  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So...after the replies here I feel like a little bit of a nerd. :D And it's not that I see the title "husband" as something that is bad or not worthy of as much love as a knight in shining armor. I just like seeing my husband as both.

So far, there are a select few that feel the same way. Most everyone else finds "husband" to be more than enough. Maybe I'm more of a romantic than I thought...lol.

Lol! You can't be that much of a nerd..I had a crush on a video game character! :p
I'd say you're just very romantic-fluffy. It's sweet. :)

Peace,

There is nothing wrong with the way you view your husband, it just isn't for me and a few other women here. Don't feel inhibited by our prejudices :)

He was misunderstood! Poor guy finds out he was made in a test-tube! I'd freak out too!! The real bad guy is Hojo, imho. Sephiroth was a pawn.

Ok. . . you know I just don't think there is any piece of news that could make me go on a killing spree...

I mean if someone told me I was born in a test tube thats not going to make me say "Oh great now I have to kill everyone in the world." I mean sure that would be something to deal with. . . but somehow I just don't think killing people would make for great therapy.

Created, this is a blind post but if my spouse said our marriage was on the rocks I would see it as a cry for help. SOMETHING is on their mind to make them say that and it must be pretty serious. It would be different if they would say "on the rocks and I'm moving out" or "have found someone" or "I'm going to start dating".

Obviously, some time when you can sit down and talk it out is in order. Thirty some years ago I was married to a woman who had a 14-yr old daughter. At 14th b-day she freaked, ended up in three different psych hospitals, she was having sex with a much older guy, diagnosed multiple personality, sheriff called us in to interview us on alleged Satanic cult activity and this went on for a year. The home felt so dark and cold. I finally said similar to your "rocks" line, "One of us is going to have to move out; we're mutually depressing each other." We separated and ultimately divorced but is an example of a source OUTSIDE the marriage that is breaking it.

Another is boredom. People get complacent, quit growing, and the individual stagnation affects the marriage, chokes off the air. It can feel like it's on the rocks because it isn't going anywhere. Some can just be unreasonable, chasing rainbows, "grass is always greener" syndrome but even then there's something setting that up. FWIW
