  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yep and what he witnessed was a vision filled with medaphores and symbols.

So nothing that John saw and witnessed personally then wrote about was what he saw or witnessed personally? I will believe John instead of you.

Rev. 1
3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and [b]heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Rev. 22
18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and [i]from the holy city, which are written in this book.

Acts 7:59
59 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

Luke 23:46
46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.” Having said this, He breathed His last.

Jesus and Stephen disagree with you. What spirit did Stephen and Jesus ask God to receive? Why would they commend their spirit to God if they had no spirit to commend?

i see we'd have to discuss this in another thread.

Oy vey! communication is difficult! Think I got the expression correct.

The body dies and ceases to exist. The soul never dies - ceases to exist. Yes you're go.ing to quote destroy in hell. The word in Mat 10:28 doesn't convey the meaning of annihilation.

and i could add more than that, but that would get us totally off message here in this thread.

Wow! I'm wondering what is you promote since we are at odds. If I promote grace what you promote can't be grace. I certianly don't promote the law. So what are the options? What exactly are you promoting and defending? To promote and defend is to be pro something.

A divided house can't stand. It is destroyed.

without the sacrifice of the Christ, we have no hope.

Obviously this is too difficult for you.
Maybe you should give it a rest before your head explodes.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Two oppsites, life on one hand and death on the other.
Well I didn't ask about life or death. I ask how the meaning changed from one to the other.

Then it does occur to me that you only thing of death as in the physical body. Do you have some Scripture that says the soul ceases to exist?

Neither of these verses imply cease to exist as in annihilation. In death even the body doesn't cease to exist. It merely changes state of being in that it returns to dust. Even this isn't annihilation.

so, what is death?

Isn't annihilation? Really?

You take a cardboard box and burn it what is left...ashes...(Is it still a box) of course not! The box is gone.. What is left is the very basic material in which the box was originally made of...earth...just as man dies and he returns to dust...it is no longer a man or any resemblance of...just the matter from which he was originally made from....

so annihilation? Yes, he is gone... Mal 4:1 speaks of a time when all the wicked shall be no more..."For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch."

A box when it is burned up has neither root nor branch as well..just ashes...just earth and nothing more...until that material is used to make something else....

Continue with verse 3 "And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts."

So are they annihilated? Certainly...they will be no more...not even a resemblance...just a pile of matter that is earthly....

When a pile of trash, limbs, boards and other material are burned, do you know what they were...nope, because what they were is now just basic elements once again...
