I think that one of the problems with equaitons is that they seem lifeless and void of heart.

Yes, indeed. That´s because they tend to take us, our desires, our needs out of the equation.
That´s precisely why I have lost all interest in "truth" as a representation of reality out there and have replaced it by "does it work?".
When I feel cold, the response "but it´s 30°C!" doesn´t change anything about it, no matter how "true" it may be.

They might be representing a love affair or a hot tempered outburst, but all they are is marks on a note pad. This might leave the door open to nihilism, or the view that nothing really matters. Why should anything matter if it's all just equations?

I simply notice that certain things matter to me. It´s not like I´m trying to find an external justification for that, or a reason why they "should" matter to me.

So if I get down on one knee, produce a ring, and say to my fiance "my darling, E M over 63x to the sqruare root of imaginary pie minus three" and gaze up hopefully she will not sense the burning love in my heart? If she didn't get it do you think brackets might help?
