Ephesians 4
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Can the Spirit not lead us from these things?

Sarcasm? ("Have fun with following your false teachers, bro")

Anger? ("NO! You are WRONG!")

Slander? ("You purposefully twist the Word of God!")

Bitterness? ("I don't care if you say you're sorry... you're not forgiven")

If we cleave to Christ and his Holy Spirit, we should make every effort to show it.

yes, the Spirit can! remember:

2 Timothy 1:7(NKJV)
7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

and it is accomplished by:

Galatians 2:20(NKJV)
20I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Christ in us can lead us away from evil!

Paul in Acts 20 and in 1 Timothy teaches us to recognize false teaching, when it's recognized would you have us ignore them or approach them?
Anger? ("NO! You are WRONG!")
Telling someone they are wrong is not necessarily being angry. If you show them the error of their ways using God's word it is loving on them...

Slander? ("You purposefully twist the Word of God!")
If they are then how is this slander? most people on the forums espousing false doctrines don't realize they are teaching false doctrines..Someone needs to point this out, as God does not look lightly on those in whom His word calls ravenous wolves.
Bitterness? ("I don't care if you say you're sorry... you're not forgiven")
Whoever did this is not being very Christlike, He showed us how to love and pray for our enemies by dying on the cross, we're called to be forgiving and do the same.

If we cleave to Christ and his Holy Spirit, we should make every effort to show it.
Amen, brother.

simonthezealot, no amount of zeal in the world justifies sarcasm. We are to recognize and correct false teaching, but sarcasm will not ultimately lend any help to the evangelic ministry.

Telling someone they are wrong is not necessarily being angry. If you show them the error of their ways using God's word it is loving on them...
We can correct someone gently, but the point of my example was the YELLING. You know, THE YELLING!

If they are then how is this slander? most people on the forums espousing false doctrines don't realize they are teaching false doctrines..Someone needs to point this out, as God does not look lightly on those in whom His word calls ravenous wolves.
Since we cannot see into their heart and judge that they want to purposefully lead people to hell with false doctrine, it is slander to accuse them of such a thing. Do we search the depths of hearts, or does God? For all we know, such a person is sincere in their intent, being mistaken or misled by another who may or may not have had evil intent.

To say that someone purposefully twists the Word of God is to accuse them of perpetrating evil. Since you cannot be sure, such accusations are slander.

Well if you remember there are two types of anger, righteous and unrighteous. A burning hatred against someone for no real reason is unrighteous. But then there is righteous anger, Remember Jesus' anger at the money lenders?

But who is entitled to righteous anger? Let us not forget that Jesus is God.

James 1
20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Colossians 3
7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

Ephesians 4
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Yes, but Jesus is God in the form of a man. He had the soul of a man, and he had the temptations of a man, and the capability to sin as a man. We know this is true, for if he was not man and did not the soul of a man and could not be led to sin, why would Satan have tempted him in the wilderness?

I know Jesus is both God and man.

That does not justify anger from us. The Word of God commands us to get rid of ALL anger.

So if Joel Osteen is teaching false doctrine (which he does) and does not realize it then people should not attempt to correct him because his intentions are good? It sounds rather cowardly if you ask me, and unscriptural.

Did I say that corrective attempts should not be made? I do not recall saying such a thing. I have simply denounced anger and slander. We can attempt to correct others with gentleness (as Paul instructed Titus) but we can do this without accusing them of having malicious intent, especially when for all we know, they are merely blinded in a way to where their good intentions have poor end results.

You'll want to rebuke Jesus' sense of humor then.

Second, do you think sarcasm is an efficient or respectable way to bring others to the Truth?

Problem is that most people who participate here aren't looking for truth. I'd say the majority of us, for the most part, are grounded in our beliefs and think we're doing that which is true to the will of God.

That said, no one here has the ability in and of themselves to bring someone to truth. We can spread the word as we understand it, but it is God who does the leading.

Sacrasim happens, and honestly, sometimes it works.

Anger? How could Jesus tell people they are of their father the devil, blind guides! Whitewashed tombs, with a lovey dovey tone? He told the pharisees they travel over land and sea to make disciples, then make em be twice the sons of hell, as they were.

The psalmist wished his enemies children were born dead, and Paul said to go castrate themselves in Gal 5:12, he even knew he had a "tone" in 4:20.

Of course we are all fairly grounded, but if we are always open to the Truth, we will be considerate and willing to hear others and assess every possibility in sincerity, and not with corralled bitterness or anger.

That said, no one here has the ability in and of themselves to bring someone to truth. We can spread the word as we understand it, but it is God who does the leading.
Paul wrote Timothy (or was it Titus?) saying that if he continued in the doctrine, he would save himself and those that heard him. In this way man's actions are associated in God's work of salvation. Paul plants, Apollos waters, but God gives the increase.

Sarcasm happens, and honestly, sometimes it works.
Sarcasm is a block of stumbling for those who are not yet well-mannered.

Frogster, Jesus may have had some prerogative as God, but the Word of God says "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice."

I don't know, nor am I concerned. I have seen what anger and sarcasm does to people, and it's not nice. That's probably why the Word of God says "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice."
