I loved the story of the silver being refined until the silversmith saw His image in it. I just wanted to point out that in Revelations it doesn't mention silver except in the context of the wicked merchants. There is no silver in the New Jerusalem!

This is the story of Silver...

Malachi 3:3 "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment.

Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you the whole time and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

Heb 12:7 If you endure discipline, God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become sharers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Moreover, we indeed had fathers of our flesh disciplining us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they indeed disciplined us for a few days as seemed best to them, but He does it for our profit, so that we might share His apartness. 11 And indeed, no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but grievous, but afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Pro 3:11 My son, do not despise the discipline of God, And do not loathe His reproof; 12 For whom He loves He reproves, As a father the son whom he delights in

1Co 10:13 No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man, and God is trustworthy, who shall not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial shall also make the way of escape, enabling you to bear it.

Be strengthened in your trials and tribulations of life to be found worthy of such testing for His name sake.

:amen:

The car in front of me had a bumper sticker on it. It read: “Pray for Obama. Psalm 109:8.” When I got home I opened my bible to the scripture and read it and started laughing. Psalm 109:8 –“Let his days be few and brief; And let others step forward to replace him.” At last –I can voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Let us bow our heads and pray. I did....

Having, literally, just 60 seconds ago mentioned the despair of this countries status, I needed this!!! Thanks vissy, way to go!!

Throughout the Scriptures, silver figuratively speaks of redemption. It was always used as redemption money:

Ex 30:16 "And you shall take the redemption money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves."

The tabernacle stood upon sockets of silver. Both Joseph and Jesus were sold for silver. Judas was paid off in silver as the Scriptures said. Silver is redemption money. Silver is symbolic of the redemption that comes through Jesus Christ and Him alone. It prefigures the preciousness of Christ as the ransom for sinners. As you mentioned there is no silver mentioned in heaven because the people will already have been redeemed.

The Bible has great humor in it! One of my favorites is about Sarah, laughing in the tent, when she was told that she would have a child at her old age. She had nerve to say to God, "I didn't laugh"! He told her, "yes, you did"! She later named her child, Isaac [which means laughter]. She sure did laugh!

In the same way, I just want to point that there isn't a book of Revelations! It is singular - the whole is one revelation, not a series of revelations.

Well, I did offer you guys Gordon Brown as he became our PM - many of us here would gladly have seconded him to the US, for as many terms as you wanted him.

The defense attorney nearly died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said, 'If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair.

THAT is hilarious! ^_^

Tess was a precocious eight year old when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn’t have the money for the doctor bills and our house. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money. She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.”

Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good.

Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!

“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.

“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick… and I want to buy a miracle.”

“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist.

“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”

“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”

The pharmacist’s brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does you brother need?”

“I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago. “One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents – the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.” He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specialising in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.

“That surgery,” her Mom whispered. “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?”

Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost… one dollar and eleven cents …… plus the faith of a little child.

Shabbat Shalom to you as well Vis!
Off to finish the meal before sundown.

Love really has nothing to do with physical vision, else how would we be able to Love G-d? How would a blind person be able to love? ;):)

I was about 14. I read the bible from the time I got out of school until 11-12am. I consumed it. I won't tell you why...just that I did. I would go into the woods near the apartment complex and have talks with G-d. Sometimes, I would go to a little lake that sat in the middle of a larger apartment complex across the street. I went there to fish. And, I usually talked to G-d while I fished.
Anyways, the lake had a little island that was accessible by a bridge. So, I went fishing on the little island. At the time, if you asked me, I would have told you I was a christian. I had my back to a tree and I was fishing and talking to G-d. Boy, it seemed like he never answered, but, I talked his ear off.
After awhile, four larger boys started throwing rocks at me. I used the tree to shield myself. Then they came across the bridge and I had already made up my mind to try to escape them. Then one of them found a large dead bird that they tried to throw on me, but missed. I kicked the bird in the water and managed to escape them. I went home. I suppose this was on a saturday. Sunday, I was outside and met up with three of the boys that had done the mischief the day before. Each one of them told me they were sorry for the way they treated me. I accepted their apologies. What a strange turn of events- I thought. And then I forgot all about it.
Monday morning, I got on the school bus as I did every morning. We crossed the large highway and slowed down to make a left turn. Out my right window there was an ambulance. They were loading up the "leader" of those boys into an ambulance--the only one of them that didn't apologize. I thought it so strange--as if I was meant to be on the right side of the bus and made to see it.
I have had things happen to me like this so many times since then. This might sound strange, but it's like G-d wants me to see that he deals with those that try to do me harm. He has always protected me or made a way of escape. He waves his finger and says "not my child". And, people think it's me. But, it's not me. I don't have any kind of magical powers or anything. All I have ever done is just tell G-d about it. I just talk to him. One on one. No holds barred. I know I can't hide anything from him anyways, so I am just brutally honest with him. And he is honest with me. But, I have done that since I was a little boy. Always seeking him and calling on him. And, I would even have long discussions with him on many subjects such as scripture, why he wasn't letting me catch more fish that day, why my parents were doing things they were doing, etc...you name it. There really is not enough webspace it seems to write it all. He really does hear your prayers. They are valuable to him. They are tangible. Just be careful what you pray. He may require of you what you tell him. Boy, do I know that.

Oh, yes, Temptin', He'll require it of you. I don't know the references right off hand but if you had vowed back in the day to give him a certain lamb, that lamb became His and He would not allow you to change it even if one became a better gift by the time of the sacrifice. He would receive the second one happily, but the first one would still be His. In another passage, He had said that whatever you vowed to do in His name whether for the good or for the bad, it would be required of you. That's why Yeshua had said to not make vows, to just let your yeas be yeas and your nays be nays.
thanks for sharing your story.

I prayed prayers that I wanted to be like "so and so". Actually, it was borderline acusatory that G-d was unfair that "so and so" had such a walk with him and I wasn't allowed the same opportunity. I prayed this when I was young.....and had forgot about it...Until I was 40. Then, he revealed to my wife what I had prayed. She said "tell me you didn't pray that". But, I did. And he holds me to it. He holds me to the standard of the one I prayed to have a walk with him like. It is very hard, sometimes. But, I would pray it again, to be honest.
