You can only observe 4% of the universe, and even that is not well understood. The other 96% remains unexplained. So "God did it" is still very much alive.

Rotation curves? God did it.

"God did it" is the most unscientific explanation available, because by principle it stifles the need for further scientific exploration. How do you expect to find out more about the universe if you think that every unexplained phenomenon was caused by a deity?

Allow me to disagree. With the birth of the universe so too was spacetime born. There is no room in science for a deity.

This is the Greek version of creation (In the begining there was only chaos. Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born (not silly cupid as we know him today) he was the God of LOVE FOR ALL KNOWLEDGE! bringing a start of order. From Love came Light and Day. Once there was Light and Day, Gaea, the earth appeared. ........

This is not quite true. Just because the universe as we know it requires no god to function, this does not preclude the existence of a god in the universe we haven't observed; nor does it even preclude the existence of a god in the universe we have observed (such a deity, though, would be severely marginalized and have no real effect on the universe; in which case, what is the point of its existence? Yet such existence could still be possible, and for completeness, such an existence, even pointless as it is, must still be considered).

All you need to do is look at every ancient culture's "science" and many ancient civilizations religious books or ideas and you'll se there are many good theories there, and some of those theories are supported by science. With the same proof, with the same probability of being right. Some of them are right and some of them are wrong. That happens because a good philosophical argument or a good theory without proof are more uncertain then science.

Now, god could've "writen" in the bible theories that properly understood are backed up by science. And can't say he didn't.
Or, like many other cultures and books, the people who wrote the bible could've writen there things (same maybe not even intended to be a theorie that explains the world, i dunno) that are not very clear in the sense that they can have many interpretations, and one of those interpretations is very little but still similar to some scientific theory. Which sounds more likely?

This is not quite true. Come, come, my good man; I was merely proposing sending them to a place where science has no say simply because creationists hate science so much that I thought it will make them happy. The plague thing was meant to enforce their beliefs as it will be seen as a sign from God to punish them for their sins.

It will make for a very interesting experiment.
