Are they acts of God or is God not responsible for tornado's?

How do religious people in the US cope with disasters? are they down to God or are they out of Gods hands?

Sometimes Its acts of God, sometimes its the Devil. They are so hard to keep straight sometimes.

Can you explain why you addressed this post to people exclusively in the US, Consol? Are you so xenophobic and ill-informed that you think the US is the only place with a significant religious population?

yah, come out and fight if all you want to do is bash americans.

90% of creationists and Christians on this board are Americans, supposedly 80% of Americans are very religious and quite a few of those are said to be creationists with a lot of the others thinking that God used evolution to get us where we are today, knowing that to whom do you think I should target may questions.

America is the most Christian (based) country in the world and we only discuss Christian creationism here.

I don't know if any other countries have tornado's if they do I don't know what they call them.

You are right about one thing though I don't expect many answers from creationists or Christians because they only want their God to be responsible for the good things in life.

Don't worry -- when I get the gumption up, I'm going to heat this thread up big-time with a list of tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and even a "perfect storm" and how they usually appeared when the U.S. signed some anti-Israeli agreement with her enemies.

The ridicule and disgust from you guys should be most entertaining.

And meanwhile, God has been blessing anti-Israel countries like Iraq and Iran with massive reserves of oil for centuries. But it's good to know he's still willing to kill a few hundred US civilians because a completely different bunch of people a few thousand kilometres away in Washington aren't quite bing pro-Israel enough.

I won't expect you to understand it; I'll just present the data and let you guys do the entertaining.

To answer this point you just made -- so you'll have something to ridicule or deny -- yes, God has been blessing Israel's Arab enemies, just as He promised Hagar He would.
But it's good to know he's still willing to kill a few hundred US civilians...
Again, just so you won't understand, God works through weather mainly by withholding His hand of protection -- not by sending a direct phenomenon.

Read Job 1 & 2, where God placed a hedge of protection around Job, and the "prince of the power of the air" did the rest.

So God is a racist? Blessing people based purely on their lineage? Sounds like a stand-up guy!

The exact mechanism is unimportant compared to the fact that you think your supposedly just God is killing people because of the actions of others. Why did the people in those natural disasters deserve to die, because other, almost completely unconnected people, made a decision God didn't like?

And not just civilians. Tornadoes and hurricanes tend to strike through the midwest and south of the USA, carving a path through the "Bible Belt"

God is not just lifting his hand of protection from the USA, he's lifting it from the highest density of people that believe in him.

Maybe there's too many, and he's weeding them out?

Being able to doublethink your way into believing that any entity who murders people for the crimes of other is in any way deserving of worship is not the sort of "handling" you should be proud of.

Here are some facts -- you decide:

  • 30 October 1991: The Halloween Monster, a.k.a. The Perfect Storm, strikes the U.S. amid the "land-for-peace" Madrid peace talks; President Bush's ocean-side home destroyed.
  • 23 August 1992: President Bush moves Madrid talks to U.S. soil; that very day, Hurricane Andrew devastates southern Florida.
  • 16 January 1994: President Clinton meets with Syrian President Hafez Assad to discuss more "land for peace" arrangements; less than 24 hours later, a 6.9 earthquake pulverized southern California.
  • 1 September 1993: President Clinton announces a meeting with Arafat for the Oslo peace accords, to be held on 13 September; after a week of meandering in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Emily hits North Carolina on that very day.
  • 21 January 1998: while waiting to meet with Arafat at the White House, President Clinton's sex scandal breaks out.
  • 27 September 1998: Arafat is meeting with the president in Washington; Hurricane Georges hits Alabama and stalls. The hurricane stalls until Arafat leaves and then it dissipates. Parts of Alabama declared a disaster area.
  • 17 October 1998: Arafat comes to the Wye Plantation meeting; incredible rains fall on Texas, which cause record flooding. Parts of Texas declared a disaster area.
  • 3 September 1999: Secretary of State Albright meets with Arafat in Israel; Hurricane Dennis comes ashore on this very day after weeks of changing course in the Atlantic Ocean.
  • 12-26 July 2000: Arafat at the Camp David meetings. Powerful droughts throughout the country. Forest fires explode in West into uncontrollable fires. By the end of August, 7 million acres are burnt.
  • 9 November 2000, two days after the presidential election: Arafat meets with President Clinton at the White House to try and salvage the peace process; worst election crisis in over 100 years occurs.

So, he just got lucky that there was a storm brewing in time for each event?

And you didn't disappoint me AV1611VET.

You really are a sad and nasty piece of work AV1611VET, all of this was against a country that has an 80% belief rate, you're lucky it's not 100% or your God might just have destroyed the US.

How many meetings went off without a disaster happening? of course you wouldn't know that would you because those figures wouldn't help your case would they?

Let's go over this again, shall we?

Judgement starts in the House of God first.

1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

If you can't handle the answer, you have no business asking the question.
