  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Isa 40:22 [It is] he that sitteth/ישב yashab [in/upon] the circle/circuit of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof [are] as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Biblically speaking; the Circle/circuit of the earth is the heavens, which go round the earth , and in the circuit of the heavens, the heavenly bodies have their own circuits.

This is so from the beginning of creation, when God made the night, and the day, evening and morning, and then stretched out the heavens from the created earth, which was still "water", on day 2, and He stretched out the heavens between the divided waters of the created earth.
This is the "circuit" of the earth.

Psa 2:4 He that sitteth/ישב yashab in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

The word circuit in Hebrew for this passage means 'the arch or vault of the sky'.

The word 'circuit' is actually used to describe the same thing in Job 22:41

Thick clouds [are] a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

In the original Hebrew, circle, sphere, and circuit were used interchangeably to describe the arch or vault of the sky.

Why is it a "circuit"?

It means circle

H2329 חוּג chûg khoog
From H2328; a circle: - circle, circuit, compassive (Strong's Dictionary)

Not only does it speak of the spherical shape of the earth...

A remarkable reference to the sphericity of the earth. See, also, (Isa. 42:5); (Isa. 44:24); (Isa. 51:13); (Job. 9:8); (Psa. 104:2); (Jer. 10:12). (Scofield)

It also suggests that the universe is expanding:

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Grace and peace,
Mark

He isn't sitting upon the earth, but in the circle of the heavens that turn around the earth. Specifically: He sits in His temple/tabernacle, in the heavens, which temple He declares through the Psalmist -and references in Isaiah and other places- that "He has set in the sun".
The universe isn't expanding, biblically, and will completely be rolled up and melted/dissolved, in their elements and regenerated for the new beginning.

It is from His lofty temple in the heavens that He comes down from, to visit the earth, at specific times [like Genesis 18 and Exodus, at Sinai] and from which temple He looks upon the sons of Adam, "who are like grasshoppers in His sight" from His lofty temple.

So the circuit describes the sky, not the earth. Right?

The "circuit of the earth" means the sky above the earth. Right?
