  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Produce evidence that verifies this:

Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

... or admit that there are things God did that didn't generate any.

Ah, an AV challenge. Admit that if you thought the way I do you would think the way I do. How droll...

I never heard that before. Did Noah have to deal with tsunami waves?

I would imagine the waves would have put any tsunami we are familiar with to shame. And to think, he did it in a wood boat!

I take it then, that you believe there should be evidence?

If so, what?

If you could go back in time and stand before Enoch's parents, who are out looking for him -- you would have evidence to verify that God took him?

If not, may I go ahead and assume you're being 'droll' as well?

Wood boat?

Most people think Noah's Ark was a ship -- but the Bible never calls it a 'ship'.

It was actually a submarine.

Notice that it is described as having 'one window' (periscope) at the top:

Genesis 6:16a A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above;

... thus the Ark was not subject to the stresses that would have been placed on ships on the surface.

A wood submarine? Link?
Don't need a link.

The Ark was made of what the Bible calls 'gopher wood' -- which, of course, is nothing more than copper, mixed with trace elements, called "pitch" -- (probably carbon for hardness).

Keep in mind that Noah's predecessors were top-notch metallurgists.

Thus the Ark was a giant state-of-the Ark submarine, complete with periscope.

So Noah is a type of Christian who is going to go through the tribulation in a submarine? According to Enoch he was writting to: "the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed." Is this type of Christian your talking about during the tribulation the Hebrew nation? After all isn't that what the tribulation is all about. The Muslims get the Russians to sell them nuclear warheads to use against Isreal. So Isreal retaliates with an all out nuclear war to even the score. What they call the Samson effect.

So you get upset when someone calls an ocean going vessel a ship, but you're happy to read 'window' as 'periscope', and 'wood' as 'copper'? I'm pretty sure you're messing with us, but it wouldn't be the nuttiest thing you'd come up with, so I can't be certain.

Having said that, this would be an obvious example of you contradicting your earlier self, and I know you hate that, so I'll go with messing about. :p

is this a joke or are you running out of reasons to believe the boat idea? by the way it is a boat, it is called a "vessel" which is another term for a ship.
if you have a problem with it being a huge boat, take it up with other christians, the bible and god.

the idea that it isn't a boat it a fabrication you made up yourself, there is no evidence that "gopher wood" means something other than "gopher wood"

You mean evidence like the fact that he is missing and God saying he took him? Since God is all knowing and does not lie that would seem pretty solid evidence, yes?

The evidence in the Bible for the people who were raptured out of here is considered a testimony. Here is a little bit about it from Wiki:

"In the law, testimony is a form of evidence that is obtained from a witness who makes a solemn statement or declaration of fact. Testimony may be oral or written, and it is usually made by oath or affirmation under penalty of perjury. Unless a witness is testifying as an expert witness, testimony in the form of opinions or inferences is generally limited to those opinions or inferences that are rationally based on the perceptions of the witness and are helpful to a clear understanding of the witness' testimony."

Was this story taken down in a court of law, under oath, and preserved until now? Or was it passed on by word of mouth, becoming oral tradition, and then finally written down at some point?

There's a big difference.
