  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who says Christians are mistreated in Islamic countries?

Religious persecution does exist in many majority Islamic countries. Religious persecution exists throughout most of the world unfortunately. America seems to do a good job of keeping it to a minimum at least at home though. It can only be stopped one person at a time starting with ourselves.

It's interesting seeing the people in this thread that haven't made the connection yet.

It is like sitting back and watching live cam feed from a southern state that just got their highways iced over. Car after car entering the ever growing pileup.

Lawtonfogol (quote)”Did you know that in even the most pro-Islamic nation, Christians have the same rights and are treated equally as everyone else. They can become Muslims and be treated like any other Muslim.”

(reply) You jokin right? If a Christian converts to Islam, he is no longer a Christian thus his treatment is no longer going to be an example of how Christians are treated but how Muslims are treated in that country. Your argument fails.

Not if you think about the fact that there can be a difference between what you are and what you do. Christians are free to follow Islam (the law cannot control their thoughts) like every other citizen. That does not mean that they have to think differently. It's a freedom, after all.

Did you know that in even the most pro-Islamic nation, Christians have the same rights and are treated equally as everyone else. They can become Muslims and be treated like any other Muslim. This is the exact same way every other person, including all Muslims, are treated. Them not getting a special exception is not being treated unequally or discriminated against. So why do people keep claiming they are discriminated against?

Maybe because they keep being killed and their churches burned?

As in yesterday.

By the way, how many Christians can come FROM being a Muslim in Islamic countries?

That's a choice that they are making. They still have the same rights as Muslims, they just choose otherwise.

You can't say Christians can become Muslims just like Muslims can become Muslims because Muslims can't become Muslims just like Muslims when Muslims are already Muslims.

Good question. Actually millions, esepcially currently in countries like Indonesia and even in countries like Saudi Arabia, it is just that its too dangerous to advertise the fact ;) In fact one wonders why the BBC had recent interviews of a woman 'converting' from Roman Catholicism to Islam as though this was representative of what was happening. (incidently on Iran TV she testified to having converted from humanism)

They can follow Islamic customs and law though. I think that was what was being referred to.

Sure. There's a huge difference between punishing the practices of Christianity and punishing Christians, right? Love the sinner, hate the sin.

But then are they Christians or Muslims? In programming we have 'duck typing'. "If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, swims and waddles like a duck, it's a duck".

It doesn't matter. Freedoms are about actions, not thoughts, and everyone has the freedom to follow Islam.
