  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please take a moment to read this.

God we all lift up the ones affected by the tsunami, that the chaos and fear would not sink in, that they would feel the warmth of your love and the strength of your protection, and above all the joy if your hope that they will emerge better than before and you're in their midst ad their brothers and sisters worldwide come alongside them in prayer and in physical aide. In the name of the resurrected Christ, amen.

Bishop Seraphim of Sendai managed to get in touch with the Church in Tokyo via cell phone. He said the cathedral in Sendai is unharmed, but he can't get in touch with his parishioners because he doesn't have electricity or telephone.

Searching that site, which laconicstudent provided, there is this news also translated from the Russian by Google:

Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in the Yamada-cho was destroyed by a tsunami and fire, said the priest, Stefan Uchida in a letter a letter Fr Dionysius Pozdnyaev, the abbot of the community holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hong Kong.

«Я узнал об этом из теленовостей, в этом храме я служил до прошлого лета.

"I learned about it from television news in this church I served until last summer.

Молитесь о братьях», – сказал отец Стефан.

Pray for the brothers "- said his father Stefan.

Япония переживает последствия сильнейшего в истории страны землетрясения (9 баллов) и цунами, власти сообщают, что количество жертв – более 10 тысяч человек.

I have been praying (good things!!!) on the people of Japan since I heard of this horrible event. I will continue to do so.

I am curious though, how some can say to pray for the people when the same people are blaming God for bringing it on them? That doesn't make one bit of sense.

May God's will be done and His Name glorified above all else. He is sovereign and He alone is worthy!

May all the unsaved people of Japan come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, to the glory of His Name. :prayer:
