  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there ANY solid creation evidence?

We get disease like any other animal. We die like any other animal. How are we so different? Because we have the ability to be narcissistic?
That's as good a description of our uniqueness as I've ever heard ^_^

You are assuming that human is just another animal. If you adopt YEC, then that assumption is wrong to begin with. So your proposed solid evidence may never happen.

Actually, the bible calls us 'animals' (nephesh) so compare Gen 2:19 with Gen 2:7. I cannot adopt YEC, because firstly the first chapter of genesis were meant to put the creation as a metaphor for the Sabbath and man as the pinacle of creation itself. It is a poem. The other point is the geologicalo history of the earth shows us its millions of years old..I have done plenty of field work so a literal approach to Genesis is clearly wrong, whereas a literature 9litercy) approach removes all contradictions without losing any sense of truth from genesis.

The word 'animals' is not found in the Bible; and unless I'm mistaken, according to tongues, nephesh = soul.

It also means 'creatures' or breathing creatures.
Nephesh
(From Forerunner Commentary)
Genesis 2:7 (Go to this verse :: Verse pop-up)
We should note that this verse does not say man has a soul, but that he is one. This word in Hebrew, nephesh, is better rendered as "creature" or as the New King James does, "being." Nephesh is also used for animals (Genesis 1:20), dead bodies (Numbers 9:6), even dying (Job 11:20; Jeremiah 15:9).

You need to be responsible on what you said. You said the creation "stories" are made up by primitive farmers. So I ask you, a more intelligent person, to make an example of creation.

Consequence? I don't think you can make one better than those primitive farmers did.
I don't understand your point here, what exactly is the purpose of me writing a creation myth in this argument?

More accurately... if you ate nylon you would die. It gives you no nutrition. Bacteria are the same way. Or WERE the same way. Nylon is a plastic that gave them no nutrition until they evolved a way to GET nutrition from the nylon. We know this did not exist before because Nylon did not exist before. However, the bacteria somehow began to use the Nylon in their environment as food.

It's because they evolved. We then sequenced their genes and found exactly what changed.

This is just ONE specific example of evolution in action.

Another example would be lizards that used to lay eggs suddenly starting to give live birth. Evolution in Action: Lizard Moving From Eggs to Live Birth

Due to climate change those lizards living in higher altitudes are now almost all giving birth to live young. Evolution in action.

Lol I've been here a week and now have a reputation beyond repute :D
The rep system on CF is a bit funny.

Are you autistic? Do you really think the process of bacterial consumption is based around its 'taste'? Bacteria can't just go up to any random thing and start consuming & using it, they need to have the genes to do it first. And since nylon literally did not exist until recently, the bacteria had to evolve the necessary genes to be able to dissolve the nylon.
How does autism come into this? ???

That's really neat stuff! I wasn't aware that kind of variation existed

However, I have to point out that from the information given, it doesn't seem like the switch from eggs to live birth was actually observed the way, say, the origin of multicellularity in Chlorella was.

In fact, if you look at the paper (link at the end of the NG article), it turns out that the authors are not even sure which way the transition went in this particular case. The relationships of the different populations are not resolved well enough to know who's ancestral to whom. (Plus the oviparous population itself is a bit weird: they lay their eggs at a much later developmental stage than "normal" lizards)

Hi AV,
What do you mean?
I'm a KJVO -- appealing to the Hebrew or Greek or Latin or Swahili or any other language to make your point is, to me, a ploy.

Hi AV,
I hate to break the news to you, but the King James version is a translation, only. The original text was not written in English and the Hebrew word 'Nephesh' stands in these verses..

You have the 'original text', do you?

For the record, it's call an 'autograph'.

Do you sell stuff on eBay? (I'll guess and say you're selling an 'original' Rembrandt?)

ETA: I just read your profile and see you are a 'sales engieer', whatever that is.

Firstly,
Thank you for noting the spelling mistake, very gracious of you!.

I am a sales engineer selling high tech sawing lines for steel tubes.

You can see the poringinal text in the Hebrew interlinear pages on the web and 'nephesh' does appear (word no. 5315)
בראשית 2 Biblos Interlinear Bible

So, there you are.

Seeing as I, on principle, think Satan wrote the Biblos Interlinear Bible -- no, there I aren't are.

And in fact, I never heard of the Biblos Interlinear Bible until just now.

My point is that you CAN NOT write one as good as that in Gen 1. So, do not laugh at your ancestors, no matter how primitive you think they were.

You can check ANY interlinear bible. It won't get away from the fact that humans and animals are all called 'nephesh' in the original Hebrew, and that word 'nephesh' is translated into the word 'soul' in many places.

I hope I did not burst your bubble!

My point is on the argument of what you called "solid evidence" in the OP. There is no such thing as a "solid" evidence. Anything is arguable depends on how much you know. The more you know, the less solid the evidence. The less you know, the less solid the evidence also.

Furthermore, evidence is useless in your question. Evidence is equivalent to a "suggestion". You do not use that to confirm any truth.

So, what you asked for in the OP is, naive, at the best.
