  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Law was given to point out sin.

Galatians 3:19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

This Law brings death because of sin.

2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away.

Romans 7:7-13 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet.'' But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.

The Law was given till the seed came and that seed is Christ.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds,'' as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed,'' who is Christ.

With Jesus came the indwelling Spirit.

Acts 2:33 "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

When we come to Jesus His Spirit cleanses us of sin which disarms the Law's power of death and separation from God.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

It's only when we walk according to that Spirit that we are not under the Law's power because we will be obeying the Law.

Galatians 5:16-18 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

If we turn away from Christ and turn back to walking according to the flesh we will be back under the Law and we will die.

Romans 8:12-14 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Walking according to the Spirit is a daily work.

Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

To follow Jesus means to live as He lived and He kept the Sabbath.

1 John 2:6 Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did.

AHA!! some scripture to chew on.....Let's see how truth is used or abused........and also view what your commentary ignors.

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Your brief remark on these 2 texts is true, but you have ignored the knowlege in these text?

First of all; the mother of all questions is asked;
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW?

  1. 1. It was added to the Abrahamic Covenant (proving it did not come before Abraham or to Adam.) Gal 3:19 T or F
  2. It was added UNTIL Jesus should come. Gal3:19 T or F
  3. It was given to Moses by Angels. Gal3:19 T or F
  4. No one will be declared righteous by the law. Rom3:20 T or F
Care to address why these facts were left out?
Please answer the true or false?

The purpose of the Law is to point out sin so that we can make the needed change in our lives. But the main reason to make these changes is so that we can be pure and have a clean conscience before God and man.

1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.

Yes, it's not talking about the 10 commandments.
It's talking about the commandment to love your neighbors.
Your commentary contradicts the scriptures and is trying to highjack the word commandment to support your false statements.

It says, "The purpose of the commandment is to love with a pure heart" it doesn't say, "The purpose of love is to love with a pure heart". Keeping the commandments will not only teach us how to love with a pure godly love they will also keep our conscience good because we won't be breaking God's Law.

That ministry of death really has a hold on you.;)
Here are some bibles you quote from at time.

5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
6 Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion,
7 desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.

8 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully,
9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers,
10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, [fn2] liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound [fn3] doctrine,
11 in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

One thing should be clear....the Law addresses sinners and sinful acts as the "ministry of condemnation. The law incriminates and is unmerciful. The law is not of faith.

The Gospel addresses the heart and soul of a man, and brings him to God without condemnation.

Two separate gospels...........................Two separate covenants.

Revelation 14:12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Our arguments are petty and does not accomplish edification because your commentary and these text you post dont fit.

Obviously you're back to the keyword game.

So what you're telling me is that under the old covenant they didn't need to bring an unblemished lamb to sacrifice for their sins?

You must be a Prophet...
No, it does not take a prophet to know what's written in God's word.
If you mean that I know what you're up to. Yes I do.
You're underminding the gospel of Jesus Christ by confusing the bible with commentary and slight of hand.
(not on my watch);)

In the last days lawlessness will abound. Why is that? Because the Law is taken away by false teachers. Jesus died to take away your sin, not to take away His Law. You are preaching another Jesus and another Gospel. Preaching a license to sin is just as bad as preaching legalism. Not on God's watch.

Again you're breaking the 9th commandment. All I have done is to show you where your comment say more than the word. You have not acknowledge me saying anything as giving a license to sin.
If anyone have said more than what the word of God reads, it's you.

You're not man enough to acknowledge your slight because you plan on repeating the same scam until your day of judgment...Good luck to ya;)

You see, your accusation of me breaking the 9th commandment has no weight because you reject the 10 commandments. I think I can get use to your religion.

Yes, it's not talking about the 10 commandments.
It's talking about the commandment to love your neighbors.
Your commentary contradicts the scriptures and is trying to highjack the word commandment to support your false statements.

So the command is to love your neighbours. The bible shows in 3 places that this is a summary of the last 6 commandments. However, can you truly love your neighbours if you do not first love God? Not at all. Where is love for God demonstrated? In the first 4 commandments.

So a simple command to love your neighbour does indeed result in the keeping of the commandments of God.

Amen ProKid,

True godly love is defined by the Ten Commandments.

Romans 13:8-10 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery,'' "You shall not murder,'' "You shall not steal,'' "You shall not bear false witness,'' "You shall not covet,'' and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'' Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

When a person manifests godly love it will manifest itself by keeping the Ten Commandments. The first four defines love towards God and the last six define love towards neighbor. This is why God can say the whole Law involves loving God and loving neighbor.

Without the definiation of what godly love should look like, at it's basic level, I could love my neigbor's wife and have a sexual relationship with her and it would be okay as long as I love her.

Take away he Ten Commandments and godly love will be open to private interpretation and we see what that looks like in the religious world today...
