  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (10)

lol. im writing a paper right now on Thomas Jefferson's desires to expand westward in 1804. So boring!!

You want to study for my Anatomy and Physiology Lab test tomorrow? In another class I have a quiz on how to write a paper. I have already had two tests this week. I think my profs must have gotten together and decided this was test week. :D

When I was a wee lad, an aunt had her twenty-eighth birthday... for the tenth time. She pulled a candle out of her pocket, lit it from the ones on the cake, and pushed it into the cake. Aunt Ruth said it was about time she celebrated her twenty-ninth.;):p:doh:

Yeah, well you have at least one consolation, Jim. You can pop down to the Friendly Local Auto Parts Store for brake shoes.;) Mine, I have to wait a week for.:sigh: I think UPS sends COD by horse and wagon.

I too love history. In fact what Jefferson did in 1804 led to Daniel Boone, the NorthWest passage, and many other exciting stories!:)

Had an exciting evening. Hubby is building a work bench so we went to Lowes to pick out lumber. Did you know that 'every' 2x4 must be perfectly straight? It's really something to watch a man shop. :)

He could have cut that time down a little by buying 2x8's ;)

of course I'm sure you are the one who does not include the full range of available lumber sizes into your vocabulary, right? :)

I have a nice work bench in my basemet, kind of small but it fits the small room. I made it out of oak ruff sadwed boards that I got from an Omish man's saw mill. I stained it with redwood stain, looks real pretty when its clean, which is about never

Ah, it is Friday. Made it through all the exams this week only to be dealing with a cold. Going to try to sleep it off today. At least I am home all weekend this weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hope you rest up and get better.

We are cleaning up outside this afternoon - then watching the Wolverine/Spartans game. People are crazy over it here in MI. Both teams are undefeated.

Sunday is Jesus, then football. I'm playing the leader in fantasy football tomorrow. I've got two guys hurt. I hope they can play. Yeah, I'm a football nut.

I will be studying for my Anatomy and Physiology quiz on Tuesday and for two Medical Terminology tests. Am hoping the Twins can figure out how to play baseball and get a win.

Other than all that, trying to shake this cold I have. All the corn dust in the air is not helping. Oh, am enjoying the summer weather we are having, was up to 90 yesterday!

We're having a slow day here, resting up for our big push to get the living room details finalized before the wood flooring goes down in less than two weeks. It will be nice to have that big chunk of the house finished, then the only rooms we have left to renovate are the den, downstairs bath and utility. I know it sounds like a fair bit remains, but we've come so far in the last year that we definitely have the finish line in site. Phew!

For some reason, we're not getting any college football games here until tomorrow. It's weird, but it looks like hockey has taken precedence this weekend. It must be the season getting going as baseball wraps up.

Oh, well. As long as they don't mess with our Sunday and Monday night NFL schedule, I can survive. ;)

Hockey,:sput: in October?? One would think the ice on the local ponds wouldn't be hard enough for skating let alone a figh... uh, I mean:eheh:, Hockey game.;):p Ah the joys of those artifical ponds they call the local arena.;):flat4:

Yeah, there's nothing better than when the end of a project draws near. Don't forget to put in a proper barrier under that flooring. That way you don't end up with the mould problem again. Are you going to do a nail-down or one of the new floating types?

We have been trying to have a quiet weekend. Last weekend, our girls' sisters came for a weekend visit. They hadn't seen each other in months. Things went very well. They'll be coming again soon. Hubby took a couple days off from his current projects. He needed a break. Among other things that went well, our football team broke their perfect record for the season and actually won the homecoming game.

This week, hubby's projects continued. Housepainting project continues and should be finished soon. Kitchen cupboard repainting project is done. However, the window replacement project is snowballing. What should have taken a couple hours is now on Day 3. One lousy ground level window. It involves rotting wall footings and an ant colony. We will at least have the satisfaction of knowing that things will be done right when the guys are done. But I think our tax guy would take a dim view of claiming Bob the handyman as a dependent. We're thinking about moving. Hmm, stay in the blue house where we know the problems, or move to the yellow Victorian that has 5 bedrooms. Decisions, decisions.
