  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pure energy with omnipotent thought and power. Able to take whatever shape He wishes if He wishes to be corporeal

Rick

Pure energy, maybe like the Sun, very similar to mine, i think not energy more like spirit, unseen and still there, like invisible mist on winter mornings. Energy would be extremely hot and bright, nobody could really get near, so i would not say energy.

I imagine God as a non entity, instead i think that there is a kingdom of his and he is always there in spirit and everyone knows this who is already there, like you will hear God but not see any entity or physical form.

What do you think he looks like?

I think of God in the sense of light..but my mind is so limited as to not really be able to comprehend the magnificance of God. I think that Jesus, the son of God, is a window to God and is also God. I can picture Jesus but must not limit that to what an artist has painted or what I have seen in a movie..God, the Holy Spirit is God's love (invisible) poured out in us and through us. I accept this in faith by the Word..(Holy Scriptures)

It is unknowable and impossible to quantify God in this manner, hence the reason for the incarnation. Focus on Christ. Christ is fully God and fully man.

ChristPantocratorStCatherines.jpg

Abraham passed through all the reasoning that is possible to human nature about the divine attributes, and after he had purified his mind of all such concepts, he took hold of a faith that was unmixed and pure of any concept, and he fashioned for himself this token of knowledge of God that is completely clear and free of error, namely the belief that God completely transcends any knowable symbol. And so, after this ecstasy which came upon him as a result of these lofty visions, Abraham returned one more to his human frailty: `I am,' he admits (Gen. 18:27), `dust and ashes,' mute, inert, incapable of explaining rationally the Godhead that my mind has seen. -St. Gregory of Nyssa, From Glory to Glory

But some one will say, If the Divine substance is incomprehensible, why then do you discourse on these things? So then, because I cannot drink up all the river, an I not even to take in moderation what is expedient for me? Because with eyes so constituted as mine I cannot take in all the sun, am I not even to look upon him enough to satisfy my wants? Or again, because I have entered into a great garden, and cannot eat all the supply of fruits, would you have me go away altogether hungry? I praise and glorify Him Who made us; for it is a divine command which says, 'Let every breath praise the Lord' (Ps. 150:6). I am attempting now to glorify the Lord, but not to describe Him, knowing nevertheless that I shall fall short of glorifying Him worthily, yet deeming it a work of piety even to attempt it at all. -St. Cyril of Jerusalem (Catechetical Lectures: Lecture 6 no. 5)

God is comprehensible in our contemplation of His attributes [or divine energies], but God is incomprehensible in our contemplation of His divine essence." -St. Maximus the Confessor(Cent. On Charity, IV, 7, trans. Pegon, Sources Chretiennes 9, p.153)

I think this reflects the correct approach to the visual descriptions we're given of Him in Revelation. (and elsewhere) His Grace is an "unspeakable gift," we have "joy unspeakable," and - -

we will all be changed in the twinkling of an eye for GOOD REASON :clap:

Is the OP feeling homesick? ;)

He told me He is human, I've imagined Him swinging poi poi's while He devised the plan of salvation. He's a genuinely good person, as perfect as you can imagine in fact and it is nothing short of my greatest wish to formally embrace Him when the time comes.

You are not able to see God's face because His Glory Is So Great! Even the angel's faces are not revealed to me.. I've been to the throne and Gabriel came to me. God was in human form though.

An old man with a beard sitting on the clouds, hidden with a ball of light.

We are created in his image. We are told to seek his face.

I had a dream one night that I saw him as a ball of light and was being pulled away from him by demons that grabbed my feet. I bought some holy oil and cleansed my house after that. Been demon free ever since.

God is a trinity, as many Christians know, and Jehovah is the Creator and progenitor (Father) to mankind, who are made in His image, as He says (not speaking of physical image). He is the mind of the Godhead, and Jesus said no man has seen the Father at any time (and I believe no man will see Him).

Remember that the Lord Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, the personage of the Godhead for man to be a sacrifice and our object --the Bridegroom who will return for His bride (the church). The Holy Spirit is God manifest as the power and intelligence of the Godhead indwelling the believer (the temple of God today).

This is why the Lord Jesus said He must leave so the "Comforter" can come (the Spirit). Jesus finished the work of redemption and returned to the Father so the Spirit could come and lead, teach, and care for man. Our conversation is with the Father and with the Lord Jesus, but not with the Spirit who is the silent worker and power of the Godhead.

When a "born again" believer (John 3) goes to Heaven he/she will see our Savior (Lord Jesus) and dwell with Him forever in the Father's house. The Father will also be speaking, but not visible to man --even as it was in the Old Testament with Abraham and Moses, etc. Jesus said: if you have seen Me you have seen the Father.

So, this all says we have a Man in the glory waiting to receive us who know Him as our Redeemer, and we will be weded to Him and always with Him, even when He returns to reign over the world for a thousand years (the Millenium).

One point of views says that god's base color is all white and around his throne is rainbow. This is just the bible's rendition dunno what the Koran says).
