  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you reconcile that with Hebrews 10:9 quoted in the previous post?

I have no issues with the utter destruction of every sinner, particularly those who are led to draw back from Grace, emphasis on LED. No person is alone in their SIN. The DEVILS are involved and the drawn back are compelled back to being blinded slaves of same, WHOM I DO NOT CONDEMN, but LOVE, and so does God in Christ whose LEAD I follow.
And, how do you reconcile this with Romans 7:6-7 declaring that we have been delivered from the law that held us in the past tense (the recipients didn't keep it; the law kept the recipients)?

Already stated prior. Where the Word, particularly LAW is sown, SATAN enters the heart(s.) Though WE as believers CAN FULFILL every commandment IN LOVE, that working of SATAN in mankind CANNOT either LOVE or be LAWFUL in the flesh.

The LAW remains written against THOSE lawless ones and the devils are assuredly LAWLESS.
That law was identified by a quote "You shall not covet", which is found only in the covenant from Mount Sinai, the ten commandments.

All of the laws in the Romans 13 linking to LOVE are found in the O.T. Laws in multiple places.
The law provide many lessons for us, but it does not remain the binding Suzerainty covenant with compliance requisite for life, as it was conveyed to the children of Israel during its tenure.

Another common but faulted methodology of O.T. LAW ELIMINATION. Jesus said that MAN SHALL LIVE by EVERY WORD of God, not just Israel of the O.T. Law. Paul also tells us that the LAW was meant to shut up EVERY MOUTH (not just the mouths of O.T. Israel) and make THE WHOLE WORLD guilty before God in Romans 3:19, so no, the notion that the O.T. LAW was only for O.T. Israel is patently false.

Galatians 3:10-14 tells us how we have been redeemed from the book of the law to enable the blessing of the Seed of Abraham to be attained by the nations in the plural. The law alienated the Gentiles from that promise during its tenure, as Ephesians 2:11-16 explains in better detail.

Call and election is an interesting topic. You do however understand that ALL the people of Israel are GODS CHILDREN according to THE WORD of God in the scriptures? (See Deut. 14:1 or Psalm 82:6 as examples) This status did not change for them on the basis of 'BELIEF.' There were those who were ELECT to hear and obey. The others were INTENTIONALLY blinded by Gods Words ala Romans 11:8's observation (and other N.T. citings.) These also show again and again the BLINDING PRINCIPLE that Jesus taught clearly...that where THE WORD is sown SATAN, another ENTITY that is NOT the people does assuredly ENTER the hearts and BLINDS people to the realities and fulness of GODS WORDS and SINS in them by STEALING the Word, which is A SIN that is done BY SATAN in them but is NOT of the people STOLEN FROM. This principle is ROCK SOLID teaching but 'few' are able to grasp that reality for themselves because of that same BLINDING POWER.

As I mentioned, the law provides lessons, and Paul affirms that love fulfills it. That isn't compliance to the law in the flesh that Paul also affirms all to be disobedient to in Romans 11:32.

Ultimately it was GOD HIMSELF who bound ALL MEN with disobedience in order to DEMONSTRATE/DISTRIBUTE His Mercy unto those same ALL.

HOW does this happen is a more interesting observation. The WORD is sown and the DISOBEDIENT ONE(s) enter the heart, that would be SATAN. The DISOBEDIENT entered therein in ALL. That is WHY no one is righteous, no not one and no one seeks and no one hears and all have sin. Where THE WORD is sown THERE Satan enters.
Those Words remain with us today as lessons to draw upon. But does that indicate the we have not been redeemed from the previous covenant that alienated the Gentiles and denied them salvation? No.

The Covenant of LOVE was contained in the fleshly ordinances, but NOT revealed/unveiled until GRACE and TRUTH in Christ Jesus shed HIS LIGHT WORDS thereupon.
The passage this thought comes from (Matthew 5:17-18) contains the qualification "till all is fulfilled", and treats the law in the same way as the prophets. Did Jesus fulfill the law in His propitiation? Yes.

Yes, but there remains HIS LOVE fulfilling THE LAW IN US who believe. The notion that there is some abstract/detached fulfillment by ONLY HIM that we draw upon is false. It is HE who LOVES in US and thereby PROVES again and again THE FULFILLMENT of THE LAW in LOVE.
That's the design of the law affirmed in Galatians 3:
22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
Once faith in our Redeemer is attained, we are no longer in the jurisdiction of the law's tutelage.

In the order of fleshly fulfillment, YES. In order of Spiritual Fulfillment, that continues as a fulfillment of O.T. LAW to an ENHANCED degree.
That is the reason the book of the law was placed outside the ark of the covenant, "that it may be there as a witness against you" (Deuteronomy 31:26), but that status does not apply to those redeemed from that first covenant.

Were any of mankind ALONE in the matters of LAW I could agree with your premise, but that is assuredly NOT the case as pointed out multiple times.

Paul had the presence of indwelling sin which same he termed NO LONGER I. Paul also had EVIL PRESENT with him. I do not adhere to the EVIL PAUL camp. EVIL was present with him and that same was OF THE DEVIL who enters the hearts where the WORD (which was Mightily) SOWN in him. Paul also had A DEVIL.

It is quite absurd then to view Paul or ANY PERSON other than Jesus Christ as MAN ALONE in the light of that fact. IF what Jesus taught IS a fact, THEN logic dictates that MANKIND is not alone, but SATAN has entered their hearts. Believers CAN dissect THEMSELVES away from FLESHLY LAW OBEDIENCE, but the WORKING of LAWLESSNES which same is OF THE DEVIL is, remains and is STILL CARRIED in all people to this day.

That working is NOT graced, justified, removed from THE LAW or granted anything by Gods Words but CONDEMNATION. For any believer to not be aware of this fact for themselves will simply lead them into various confusions and divisions. When a believer who reads the scriptures and sees 'where the Word is sown SATAN enters the heart' and says in their heart---> that does not happen to me, THEY HAVE in fact already been blinded BY that same power.

There is no one who is lawless,

Uh, the devil has been a liar, a thief, a sinner and a murderer from the beginning. Indeed satan and his family are LAWLESS without question.
but for God's redeemed we have been given His promise "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more".That brings an interesting light onto Matthew 7:23, which says ""And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'". Who's lawlessness was remembered; those feigning compliance or those redeemed in God's adoption?

And you might consider that IF satan enters the hearts where the Word is sown, then SATAN or his devils are IN believers and will HEAR THOSE WORDS of Jesus.

You do realize that the law didn't hold anyone else during its tenure, as it was given to no one else - as confirmed when you consider the rhetorical question Moses asked in Deuteronomy 4:8 "And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?".

I'm finding that none of your responses are answering the questions posed. That's sufficient reason to stop here.

You would go a long way by quoting the text you don't understand, and asking a specific question germane to it. Saying you don't understand has become your means to dismiss entire posts with three words responding to an entire page of text.

i was speaking with Frogster, and he had already posted a verse.

i simply asked him to explain the verse along with his rhetoric, which was unclear to me.

why i'm explaining something that happened between me and someone else, to you, is really beyond me, yet i'm doing it.

This doesn't address the question that has been posed.

Of course it does if one realizes that mankind is not alone in 'all of our' various deceptions. The one who IS AT THE CAUSE of these matters is assuredly going to FRY in HELL forever.
This doesn't address the question posed, nor does it address God's adopted children in His redemption.

And again as stated, any believer can declare themselves apart from the law, but this does not speak to the power of sinning lawlessness, which same is of the DEVIL that is still carried IN ALL. What can be TRUE for ONE can be FALSE for the other.
This doesn't account for love fulfilling those laws, and there is no call to compliance to the former covenant in Romans 13. This response also dismisses the point made from Romans 7.

The fulfilling of the Law is defined in Romans 13 and in every place where we see likewise commands, to love our neighbors as ourselves. This does not mean the LAW of fleshly ordinance is GONE, but ENHANCED to it's TRUTHFUL ETERNAL DEGREE.

The WHOLE WORLD/EARTH/MAN was advised to GIVE EAR to the O.T. LAWS and GODS WORDS. See Deut. 8:3 or 32:1 as examples.

Perhaps not answers that you like, but that's OK. I don't hold not understanding against you as Gods child, knowing the effectiveness of the cause.

Jeremiah 31:31-40 (New International Version)

31 "The time is coming," declares the LORD,
"when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah.

32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to [a] them, "
declares the LORD.

33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time," declares the LORD.
"I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,"
declares the LORD.
"For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more."

35 This is what the LORD says,
he who appoints the sun
to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
to shine by night,
who stirs up the sea
so that its waves roar—
the LORD Almighty is his name:

36 "Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,"
declares the LORD,
"will the descendants of Israel ever cease
to be a nation before me."

37 This is what the LORD says:
"Only if the heavens above can be measured
and the foundations of the earth below be searched out
will I reject all the descendants of Israel
because of all they have done,"
declares the LORD.

38 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when this city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39 The measuring line will stretch from there straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn to Goah. 40 The whole valley where dead bodies and ashes are thrown, and all the terraces out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far as the corner of the Horse Gate, will be holy to the LORD. The city will never again be uprooted or demolished."

I have been praying about your questions in this thread and other comments by some people who have have not presented any scriptures or answers to your questions.

The absent of commentary in this post is a smart move that says... argue against or prove God's word.

I will start a new thread namely "The New Covenant...." to present what God has put on my heart as an answer in response to your questions and your respectful patience.

As a reminder, this is the post you responded to:
One of those holding that opinion is Jesus Christ, the "He" referenced in Hebrews 10:9:
8 Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the law),
9 then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
The "first" was the covenant from Mount Sinai, the ten commandments.
From your response I posed several questions:
How do you reconcile that with Hebrews 10:9 quoted in the previous post? And, how do you reconcile this with Romans 7:6-7 declaring that we have been delivered from the law that held us in the past tense (the recipients didn't keep it; the law kept the recipients)? That law was identified by a quote "You shall not covet", which is found only in the covenant from Mount Sinai, the ten commandments.
Your responses don't seem to acknowledge the Gospel passages that affirm the relationship of the law keeping the sole recipients until faith in their Redeemer came, and alienating the Gentiles during its tenure. Was salvation available only to the Jews, or is there a hope for the Gentiles that Ephesians 2:11-16 affirms?

I'm not disputing the passing of fleshly ordinance understandings. This did not eliminate The Law or the Spiritual understandings contained therein. Burning an animal has little if anything to do with loving our neighbors as ourselves. There are other avenues to understand EVERY command, not ELIMINATE same. Contained in EVERY COMMAND (without getting boring) is the Spiritual base line of LOVE to NEIGHBORS and therein they are ALL comprehended, not ELIMINATED.

Keeping of the Law remains IN/AS LOVE to neighbors, all. Faith 'works' via-through LOVE.

The LAW was not eliminated by LOVE.

The issue is not the spiritual lessons that are gained from the law, and you would find that I acknowledge these in my posts. This is a reason that the law is quoted many times in New Testament passages.

But you do not have a reason to dismiss the mandates of the law by stating that burning animals wasn't germane to loving one another. God didn't ask for the children of Israel to qualify His covenant by the motives they reasoned from it - He demanded compliance as a requisite to possess the promised land and to live (see Deuteronomy 30:15-16). You simply dismissed the law while finding reason to contend with those who have acknowledged the same conclusion you make in your practice.
Keeping of the Law remains IN/AS LOVE to neighbors, all. Faith 'works' via-through LOVE.

The LAW was not eliminated by LOVE.
You aren't finding support for the law, especially in dismissing large portions of it to suit your reasoning. The commandment to love one another is quoted by John in his first epistle:
22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
John's documentation is found in his Gospel account as a new commandment: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another" (John 13:34). Leviticus 19:18 found in the first covenant's law says pretty much the same thing, and yet Jesus calls this a new commandment. It would seem that this is an edict Jesus wants to convey to His redeemed, and He doesn't depend on the former law that Hebrews 10:9 states He took away to establish the new covenant that isn't compatible with the first.

This seems as good a place as any other to remind you of a post that you dismissed without a response to any of its content:
anywho,it is clear that paul is talking about the mosaic law in gal 3. note the references to "works of the law" (from the greek ergon nomos) and his reference to the "book of the law" (you know, the part of the law that moses wrote, hence, mosaic law. ex 24:5,7)

now, let's back up from gal 3:24 to gal 3:19,

Galatians 3:19 ( NKJV ) 19What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

what purpose did the law serve? he actually answers this question in verse 24, but notice that the law was added because of transgressions. but what law or laws were being transgressed?
The meaning of "added because of transgressions" simply means that the law was added to define transgressions that would violate it, and those transgressions existed already.
(but of course it couldn't have been the ten comandments)
That is inconsistent, as the ten commandments was the covenant that was given through Moses, at the same time Moses received God's instructions that he later codified in the book of the law. The content of each have the same origin of time, as Moses testified in Deuteronomy 4:
11 "Then you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the midst of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.
12 "And the LORD spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; you only heard a voice.
13 "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
14 "And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might observe them in the land which you cross over to possess.
remember?

Romans 4:15 ( NKJV ) 15because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

since the law was added because of transgressions or sin, there had to be a law that existed so that "the law" could be addded!
That comes from rendering "added because of transgressions or sin" from an incomplete definition of sin equating the two. If you're going to use Romans as a guide, you should also include Romans 5:13:
For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Sin existed before the law did, showing that sin and transgressions to a codified law are separate entities.
just too bad that we don't know what law or laws that was being transgressed, a pure shame.

well, we do know it wasn't the mosaic law.
That simply means that there was no transgression of law prior to the Mosaic covenant, since there was no law mediated through Moses before Moses came onto the historical scene.
also notice that "the law" was added until! until what?
...till the Seed should come!

so, this tells us that the law was to be added but that it would have a definite duration!

that's where:

Galatians 3:23-25 ( NKJV ) 23But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

comes into play.

the mosaic law fullfiled it purpose, came 430 years after abraham and taught the COI the habit of obedience.
but verse 25 says that we are no longer under a tutor, why?
You were doing fine until you decided to ask "why". Being kept under the law for a period of time you acknowledge was temporal also acknowledges that once faith in our Redeemer came, that ownership conveyed by "kept under the law" came to an end once the ownership of the purchased possession (us) was transferred via redemption. Galatians 4 addresses that as the reason Jesus Christ came:
4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Redemption places being under the law in the past tense, and that is the reason that we are no longer under the tutelage of the law.
because:

Daniel 9:27 ( NKJV ) 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week (and Christ literaly died on wednesday)
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”
I am among the minority who agrees that the crucifixion was on a Wednesday, followed by the High Sabbath on Thursday, Mary buying embalming spices on Friday, and the second sabbath of the week happening on Saturday. However, Daniel 9:27 refers to the midst of a shabuwa, dividing the heptad of "seven" we commonly regard as "years", and it isn't a reference to a literal week. I don't think Daniel 9:27 is germane, and you're making a point from this verse that it doesn't really support.
mosaic law, and not the ten commandments, was added because of gal 3:19, and served its purpose per gal 3:24!
Here you do nothing short of displaying an open prejudice against the Mosaic covenant. The ten commandments was every bit as much Mosaic law as the book of the law was. The tables of stone was the covenant handed to Moses on Mount Sinai, and the book of the law was the same covenant Moses wrote at Horeb, from orally dictated instructions directly from God. Galatians addresses the ten commandments itself in Galatians 4:
21 ¶ Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law?
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman.
23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise,
24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar----
25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children----
26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27 For it is written: "Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband."
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman."
Here we have Paul's instruction to cast off the bondwoman, which he defines as the covenant from Mount Sinai: "the one from Mount Sinai". There was only one covenant that had Mount Sinai as its origin. Scroll back up in this post and review the testimony Moses gave us from Deuteronomy 4 for the proper noun naming the covenant from Mount Sinai - the Ten Commandments, written on tables of stone.

That is what Galatians is addressing with the same impact as the book of the law. The law was indivisible, and we are redeemed from the law as a unit that includes the covenant from Mount Sinai, the Ten Commandments.
