  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With Wife and Daughters Away, Obama Has His Boys Over - Political Punch

Big Journalism on Obama's weekend:

This just in: Does anyone remember reading about George W. Bush's "Birthday Week"?

The AP covers President Obama’s busy, busy schedule. Luckily, there’s nothing important going on in the world:
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is capping his birthday week with an afternoon of golfing on Saturday and a barbecue on Sunday.

Silliness aside it does bring up a good point, can anybody remember some members of the media fawning over president bush's birthday like this?

Perhaps if the media did more actual journalism and less puff pieces websites like "Wikileaks" wouldn't be doing their jobs for them.

Love the title.

"Hey Magic, watch the carpet, the first lady will kill you, if you stain that rug."

They played basketball didn't they? Not golf.

Obama celebrates birthday with a guys' weekend - CNN.com
Washington (CNN) -- While the first lady and daughters Malia and Sasha were away for part of the weekend, President Barack Obama enjoyed what some have jokingly referred to as a bachelor's weekend with friends -- golfing, playing basketball and grilling out on the South Lawn.

So are you saying that Obama is the next JFK or that Marilyn Monroe sang happy birthday to Bush?

Or are you just dodging my question?

I'm saying that while nobody particularly found President Bush's birthday particularly worth celebrating, the notion of having the media fawn over a president's birthday isn't exactly unusual.

I know I am...shoot, I wish I could play as much golf as Obama does!! My handicap would go WAY down! ^_^

I think I'd rather eat the golf ball than play golf with it. Maybe that's why Obama plays golf - so that everyday governmental business seems amazingly exciting in comparison. :p

Actually, I think most of the publicity about Obama's birthday was caused by all the conservative news sources who complained about Mrs. Obama going to Spain for her husbands birthday (and many suggested the President would go for his birthday, too). I don't recall anything about Obama's birthday last year and doubt it would have been news this year without conservatives making a big deal about it.

Even the OP links to a blog.
