Everything is God's will after all! :D

2 Corinthians 4

1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
12So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
13We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
15For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Translation: The laws that I don't like I don't have to follow, but the laws I do like that affect other people can stay.
Care to expound upon your assumption?

I'm not perfect, but you describe both our chains.

Came across an article discussing the facts cited by the judge in his ruling.

Prop. 8 Overturned: The Facts, Not the Law, Matter - Politics - The Atlantic

I am going to post them here (sorry for the length) just so everyone can see them. And to see if anyone can refute their factual nature:

1. Marriage is and has been a civil matter, subject to religious intervention only when requested by the intervenors.

2. California, like every other state, doesn't require that couples wanting to marry be able to procreate.

3. Marriage as an institution has changed overtime; women were given equal status; interracial marriage was formally legalized; no-fault divorce made it easier to dissolve marriages.

4. California has eliminated marital obligations based on gender.

5. Same-sex love and intimacy "are well-documented in human history."

6. Sexual orientation is a fundamental characteristic of a human being.

7. Prop 8 proponents' "assertion that sexual orientation cannot be defined is contrary to the weight of the evidence."

8. There is no evidence that sexual orientation is chosen, nor than it can be changed.

9. California has no interest in reducing the number of gays and lesbians in its population.

10. "Same-sex couples are identical to opposite-sex couples in the characteristics relevant to the ability to form successful marital union."

11. "Marrying a person of the opposite sex is an unrealistic option for gay and lesbian individuals."

12. "Domestic partnerships lack the social meaning associated with marriage, and marriage is widely regarded as the definitive expression of love and commitment in the United States.
The availability of domestic partnership does not provide gays and lesbians with a status equivalent to marriage because the cultural meaning of marriage and its associated benefits are intentionally withheld from same-sex couples in domestic partnerships."

13. "Permitting same-sex couples to marry will not affect the number of opposite-sex couples who marry, divorce, cohabit, have children outside of marriage or otherwise affect the stability of opposite-sex marriages."

So. Are any of these facts wrong? If so, please show your work.

Conservatives like to support the laws that target things they don't like, for example the supposed leviticus verses on homosexuality. However, they ignore every other leviticus law that they personally can't be bothered with.

My point is that many in the Bible Belt behave like the Pharisees - holding onto legalistic, literal tradition and ideals, instead of love, compassion, and equality.

Yes. Love is the key. And contrary to what a lot of homosexuals and their sympathizers think, we can love you just fine and still call your same-sex sex what God calls it: FORNICATION :)

A statement of love without acting on it is not love. Love requires commitment. Commitment requires action. If you don't support them, then you don't love them.

I'm a conservative and believe the verses you do not like to acknowledge in the entire Old Testament, not just Leviticus.

Which verses do you think I can't be bothered with?

That's a bunch of liberal baloney. ^_^What am I, as a man of God, doing supporting someone to disobey God?

You're gonna have to sell that swamp bridge to a babe in Christ. ^_^

Exactly, if they can not have love for the Father, they do not know what anything but lustful hollywood love is!

Despite what your interpretation of the English Bible might have told you, there is no such thing as consentual homosexual relations being a sin in the Bible.

Which verses do you think I can't be bothered with?
Wearing mixed fabrics, eating shellfish, wearing glasses in church, stoning rebellious children to death, boiling children in milk, shall I continue?
