I guess you missed the part where this forum is also for giving biblical advice.

I haven't missed the part where the majority here in this thread agree that your message isn't bring received well nor have I missed the part where the "giving" of biblical advice comes (after) the asking for it.

Mob rule? No one is forcing you to comment. My point in posting this here is to give Christian women something to think about before the go to church on Sundays. There are plenty of threads that have given advice without asking it.

Then stop using the same logic that Muslims use to justify coverings for women.

"And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful" --Quran. Chapter 24 "The Light", Verse 31

lol I was just getting ready to say that. and must say I do agree. Anyone that may disagree ask yourself this question, would you set a drink down in front of a recovering alcoholic? I would hope not. Most if not all men have at one time struggled with lust. Would you want to be their stumbling block?

I wouldn't be anyone's stumbling block consciously, but I don't expect women to hobble themselves out of the fear that they might inadvertently cause a problem any more then I demand all bars shut down to preserve the sanity of a recovering alcoholic.

This video is a rare glimpse of a pastor actively addressing the modesty issue, not as a ranting legalist, but as a loving pastor, concerned for his flock. Ideally, these issues should be taught by older women to the younger. But if that isn’t happening in a church, then the pulpits need to address it. John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim’s Progress, once wrote on the low-cut dresses of his day and how they caused men to sin. Some things never change.

YouTube - Ladies, Does How You Dress Cause Men to Lust? - Al Martin (Spanish Captions)

To put the blame on us is sick and misogynistic!!! This makes me :sick::sick::sick:

Great point. If we know we could cause another to stumble, no matter the situation, we should do everything in our power to keep that from happening. We are one Body in Christ.

Ephesians 4

Unity in the Body of Christ

1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

7But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8This is why it[a] says:
"When he ascended on high,
he led captives in his train
and gave gifts to men."[b]

9(What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions[c]? 10He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Living as Children of Light

17So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

20You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin"[d]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

You clearly did not watch the whole video to the point where he tells men they have responsibility in this too.

Do you think it's ok to wear a shirt that reveals all of your cleavage?

So you're saying that women dressing in a particular way is equal to shoving a drink in front of an alcoholic. So therefore you're also saying that a man's default position is equal to that of a recovering alcoholic and that all men are like recovering alcoholics.

Rubbish.

There is such a thing as modest clothing. Clothing should frame the face from which the glory of God is revealed. If it frames the body and draws attention to it, then it is not of God.

Our entire body is to reflect God's glory. After all it is now His temple. Pope John made a very wise comment.

“Sexual modesty cannot in any simple way be identified with the use of clothing, nor shamelessness with the absence of clothing and total or partial nakedness. The human body is not in itself shameful, nor for the same reason are sensual reactions, and human sensuality in general. Shamelessness (just like shame and modesty) is a function of the interior of the person.”

You point out that no one is forcing me to comment while at the same time you're demanding people to receive your message. I'm just pointing out that from what I can see on this thread so far, most people are not receiving your message. That you would attribute this to "mob rule" is silly.

Your message isn't bringing people together in love, it's only either irritating people or perpetuating yet another little in a sea of so many already on going divisions amongst the body of christ.

Of course it doesn't.

I'm sure that you and the guy in the video are concerned that women are showing too much skin purely for philosophical reasons. Human sexuality definitely is not a factor.

Where did I demand anything?

Edification happens when the Body of Christ pursues holiness and speaks the truth in love with the barrier of pride removed from all.

Rubbish.

So funny that you should phrase it in just that way. Yes all Christian men are recovering sinners. When a woman wears provocative clothing it may cause someone to stumble. Yes men should strive to be blameless in thought and deed however it would be nice if some Christian woman would dress more appropriately. I'm not expecting women to wear a burka, just dress in a way that doesn't bear everything they have. A recovering alcoholic is no different than someone recovering from a porn addiction. Any man that says that he has never lusted after a woman is either a liar or gay.
