I think that the whole idea running through the series is questioning the definition of evil. I mean, murder is evil, by religious definition as it is the elimination of life. Yet, Light sees himself as a God and he has people who treat him like a God, so he believes that he is a judge of evil, but ironically he is doing evil himself. LOL
So complicated, but extremely well written. It makes us think for a long time after watching it and even though I've only seen every episode once I can still remember most of the episodes and some of the lines.
However it has a lot of cringey moments e.g. the potato chip incident, Mello and his blanket and Misa's rather unsubtle sexual references. lol
Also, the fact that every girl is portrayed as a toy is quite annoying
But no, it was a good series, with well linked references to religion i.e. L washing Light's feet.
Why am I sad that L died?
I know this sounds naive, but it was a stab in the back from Light and they seemed so similar...I just generally don't like Light and didn't want him to have the satisfaction of killing L!

I was always on Light's side from day one. Maybe it's because we both have red hair.

Light was a very logical character but at the same time he had an obsessive desire for a good fight to prove himself. Both he and L are childish in the aspect that they hate to lose.

Light did more for the world than a lot of people. He actually did manage to accomplish world peace but only through a lot of bloodshed. One might say Light created the only logical utopia in this world, by making everyone frightened of his judgment.

I believe it was said several times during the series that if Light hadn't have found the notebook, he would be like L. He would probably become a detective and spend his time fighting criminals that interest him.

Death Note presents an interesting scenario. What if God gave a sample of his power to destroy to humans. What would they do with it? Death Note's plot is a prime example that humans with godlike power quickly become corrupt.

I don't think Light killing L is a stab in the back.... everything Light did from day one was to kill L and the apparent friendship was in a way part of that.

Yeah I think it is likely that even some of the most moral people would fall with that level of power.

I suppose I am quite naive of the world and tend to brush aside deep thoughts as I am scared of them. I suppose it is true that even I have thoughts that scare me and make me question my own character and morals. Although I honestly think that I am too much of a coward to ever hurt anyone...I try my hardest to make people like me and believe my role in the world is to help others to achieve their dreams and be a minion in the background. Sad, but true. I get a kick out of being a quiet support for people. LOL. This is really off topic! Anyways, I think that is what the creators would want us to do...question our lives and if we are reaching the full potential that we can (as Mikami was going to kill of lazy people).

Lol...the Pope can be scary sometimes.
But I question this view as I believe it doesn't always have to corrupt and if it falls into the right hands power can be used wisely and fairly. Some people are just born with a suggestable side I suppose...

I'm reading Death Note at the moment--it's possibly the best manga I've read so far. I'm up to chapter 50 now, and I'm not really sure who I'm rooting for--Light's lost his Death Note, so he's effectively on the side of the police and can't really kill anyone; Misa has gone out with the guy who has her Death Note (having only been told about them a few chapters earlier, et cetera).

But L--he's the same as ever. Odd. Out of all the characters, I think I like him the best.

I love death note... But I don't have the manga yet... I think maybe the manga might be better though.
I haven't seen the "live action" movie yet but I want to.... The only thing I have seen is the anime... My favorite characters are L and matt... The character I loathe is light, All I think of misa is shes stupid... I hated it when L died... I was like " NOOOOOOOO! L!!! DON'T DIEEEE! YOU'RE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE! *Weeps* D: " And of course it was the same way with matt... My older sister cried when she saw that L died... Anyway the live action movie came on one time and I didn't have the channel... -_- My sister and I was upset because we've been wanting to see it... But we can always try to look it up on youtube like I did with final fantasy 7 advent children complete... -_-

The only reason I continued watching was because I wanted to see if Light dies. I love Death Note. I only wish that L didn't die.
