  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You said eveything in the bible is literal truth; the bible literally says geocentricism is true, though it is scientifically proven not to be true, regardless of whatthe bible literally states. You believe in contradictory realities, a sign of delusion.

It doesn't say that the earth is NOW the center.

That makes no sense at all.

The earth was never the center of the universe.

The bible also doesn't say anything about alot of things we can observe to be true.
How would you know if it was or not?? I mean really? The bible says God is moving here one day forever. How could anything be MORE central??

Had Jesus been born of an earthly father (Joseph), then He too would carry what we call the sin nature, and He therefore would not be qualified to be the Saviour of mankind, as He too, would be in need of a Saviour.
No arguments on your explanation of Luke and Matthew, except that Jesus was born of an earthly mother. Are women exempt from the sin nature?

The earth may not be geocentric, but it is certainly geoprominent.

So I would be right to conclude that since Jesus had a mortal mother that he also carried the primal sin?
No -- it can only be transferred via the seed of the man.

(I like that term primal sin -- did you make that up?)

so when scientists find a way to make a baby from two female eggs that baby wont have sin?

Wow... very interesting idea. I'm guessing this one of the reasons why religious folk (not just Christians) fear some of our new science and call it 'playing God.' They probably feel that bypassing some of their absurd mental barriers and beliefs should only be possible by their God.

Yes. In the Greek Bible: Προπατορικό αμάρτημα = Original sin. I used the word primal as I felt it suited the circumstance better; Since it was not the original sin (Lucifer's revolt is the original sin). Adam and Eve's sin is the primal sin since it is Man's first sin.

Mind you this does not mean that I believe that all this actually took place. I am not out to dismiss religion but to examine the Bible quotes and their meaning.

Have a nice day:wave:

Hmm, this sounds suspiciously like medieval ideas of reproduction where it was thought that the male seed contained the emergent embryo and the female only was a receptacle the embryo grew in. Is that what you are saying?

If it is only transferred via the seed of the man, then it must be contained in the Y chromosome, since that is the only male-specific part of his seed. But if that were the case, then women would not have that "primal sin" since they do not possess a Y chromosome.

Yet they are born with the sin nature, so there must be something more to this than just Y chromosomes?

Something [myopic] science can't see?

Yes, obviously, sin must be passed down by something other than the Y chromosome if women are to have a sin nature. Any ideas on what that might be? Is there some male-specific part of the soul or spirit? By what mechanism do you propose that sin is passed down through the male only?
