  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The future will be different. Heard of the new heavens? So, in what way was Eden the same? Have you some proof of your hunch?? Let me know if I need to chuck history and the bible out.

The reality of spirits among men. Of fast plant growth, of water over the earth, of water receeeding, or long life spans, etc etc...you new to the bible and history?
I must admit you nearly had me going then, I thought someone had discovered something new, now I find it's just more Creationist fundamental rhetoric designed to sway the unfortunates.

No I'm not new to the Bible but I will admit I didn't know it contained history other than place names, I always thought history relied on more than one account before it was even considered to be anywhere close to being called history,
as I said before for me my Bible is a guide it is not the whole truth and nothing but the truth because that's just plain silly.

So if the Bible was the 'whole truth and nothing but the truth', you would find that 'just silly'?

Doing my family tree, I found a famous man that I thought was my great-great-grandfather. I told people that he was one of my ancestors. Later, I found out that he was my step-great-great=grandfather.

Did I lie when I mistakenly told people that the famous man was my ancestor?

No -- a lie is an untruth, conveyed with the intent to deceive.

IF is one of the biggest words there is, it's not the 'whole truth and nothing but the truth' so you thinking it is changes nothing and this is going beyond silly it's becoming ridiculously childish.

Sometimes truth is poetic.
Sometimes poetry isn't the truth. Sometimes it is.
Yes it is.
No it isn't.
Yes it is.
No it isn't.

Is that really the best you can do? bad poetry aside, you made the assertion, now back it up.

No can do, so called science has been foisting the present natural on the future, which involves the supernatural. They must be confronted.
The future has nothing to do with the "supernatural." Tell us when the Rapture will get here, dad. Its coming.... Its coming.................

Easy to do, when you are not in the room. Whoopee do.
You are a coward and a hypocrite because you rail against technology on the one hand, while using the internet and computers while safe in your air-conditioned home on the other hand. If technology is so very evil and Anti-God, why are you using it so much? Do you have the courage to match your actions to your convictions, or not?

I was specifically refering to "Sodom pride" parades, which you claim had something to do with atheism. Care to explain? Or is it impossible for you to stay focused?

I doubt bible believers advocate those Sodomy festivals. Sorry, you are on your own.
First you say they are "Sodom Pride" parades, now you say they are "Sodomy festivals." I have heard of neither. Give us a reference.

Yes, you do. Being aware is not a requirement. The god of this world doen't exactly open the eyes of those of the world, to what is going on.
In that case, you must be blind.

Christians are from the same Sin Ship that you are from. Hopefully God is working on us, and over time, we may make some small improvements. I think many of us pretend we are a little more improved than we currently may be.
That would fit you very well and your belief that you are inerrant like God himself.

It is silly, for example, to come down with leprosy, and present oneself to the synagogue, or maybe go wash in the pool of Siloam. The by laws of the Jews were for then. Also for them. Not for me, thanks.
That is just one example of the silliness presented in scripture. Yet you claim it is the "Inerrant Word of Almighty God." Which is it?

just keep in mind that the more they preach and shout against "something", the more you know they are talking about themselves.

Wolfwing, here's a good write-up on this:

The criteria the church used for recognizing and collecting the Word of God are as follows:

1) Was the book written by a prophet of God?
2) Was the writer authenticated by miracles to confirm his message?
3) Does the book tell the truth about God, with no falsehood or contradiction?
4) Does the book evince a divine capacity to transform lives?
5) Was the book accepted as God's Word by the people to whom it was first delivered?

The bible contains a lot more than place names. There was a lot going on in creation week. A lot going on near the flood, and in between as well.

If you have a bible case against the clear and stark differences twixt then and now...make it! If you have scientific proof of this presenent state existing in the far past...show it now. Otherwise...you have nothing. Thanks for stopping by to show us that.

When I looked up the verse, the experts said this about "hills"

"All the inhabitants of rocky and mountainous countries."

Psalm - Chapter 98 - Adam Clarke Commentary on StudyLight.org

So, thanks for showing a shallow comprehension, and a willingness to not get the point and beauty of what was being conveyed.

So, tell us..by what knowledge do you come here to make bizarre claims about the future?

You are a coward and a hypocrite because you rail against technology on the one hand, while using the internet and computers while safe in your air-conditioned home on the other hand. If technology is so very evil and Anti-God, why are you using it so much? Do you have the courage to match your actions to your convictions, or not?

The tree of life had both fruits on it. We may eat, you know, despite the bad fruits around. Elementary. I takes neither bravery nor cowardice, merely being alive on the planet. Believers are to choose the good, and eshew the evil. Not wanting children and people burned, and killed with nukes, or otherwise hurt with the bad, is no more cowardly than not wanting to feed them rat poison. try to keep things civil and sane here.

First you say they are "Sodom Pride" parades, now you say they are "Sodomy festivals." I have heard of neither. Give us a reference.

I think that the promotion, and practice and pride in the sin of Sodomy is no secret. It sticks it's sinful head out in many ways. The proponents of these things could not be bible believers of good faith. So, I assume that a lot of it is from those that do not use the front door of God.

That is just one example of the silliness presented in scripture. Yet you claim it is the "Inerrant Word of Almighty God." Which is it?

God speaks to man in different ways. He spoke to the little peoples He chose long ago, in a barbaric past a certain way, for certain reasons. The word is alive. God moves. If you take grade 1 books, and try to use them, when you are 50, as the curriculum for investing in stocks, and learning how to fix your diesel motor, it is silly. To everything a time...

No you were trying to say that the bible was inspired by god, but the flaw is again that there is no way of knowing what he considered scripture.
Makes no sense. To be inspired for a time and place does not mean we take things out of time and place. It was great for then. Most of the bible still is great for now, in the lessons that the people lived out for us. But I am not aware of real super important and relevant lessons in little by laws of Jews of yesteryear? Just because Moses smacked the rock for water, does that mean we need to not turn on a tap evermore?? No. Context.

The problem is you do not rant against nukes in particular, you rant against science and technology in general. This while you benefit from its fruits and thus the fruits of science.

I guess that explains homosexuals who are practicing Christians. Or are you going to play the No True Scotsman card on that too?

Wow, I actually agree with you, dad. Why then do you take Genesis, which is a prime example of the type of story-book writing you just described and insist it is a literal history?

Actually, they do tell us when the rapture is coming.

Re: Harold Camping

"He is known especially for his distinctive voice and his particular teachings.[1] Camping teaches the Bible as the sole and authoritative word of God; of the imminent end of the world (his most recent prediction has the rapture on May 21 in the year 2011)[2]; of the "end of the church age" (which asserts that churches are no longer the vehicle of God for salvation);[3] and of predestination, according to which God determined before the beginning of the world which individuals are to be saved."
