ok... first off, i didnt even know that there is an actual orthodox priest out there that has published books on racial superiority... mainly white. i find this to be highly disturbing.

i mean... can one really be a priest and yet hold racist views?

agreed. yeah he's suppose to be from the south. although nobody seems to know where his diocese is. but i do somewhat understand his views on immigration. but he worded it in such a weird, racist way. it almost reminds me of the teachings of the dutch reformed church in south africa.

The church seems to be connected to The Holy Synod in Resistance. Someone else will have to comment further on that because I am ignorant of what that implies or entails...

He really doesn't mention "race" anywhere. I see him saying cultures are different, and that one culture moving into another will change that culture. That seems obvious to me. And he likes his own culture and thinks it's better than others. The second article is just in praise of the virtues of the American South. I'm not ready to call him a racist.

I think it's fine to discuss these ideas. But I do wonder should a priest be discussing them?

The "synod in resistance" is not a real Orthodox Church. The only thing they are resisting is reality.

fr thornton isnt talking about nationality or culture, he is talking about race. he doesn't mention race but if you read the entire article it reeks of racialist agenda. plus... WHY is his article on a White Pride site?

Why is he on a White Pride site? Because you can construe things as you like. Yesterday I watched a YouTube video from the Marxist International Movement who used quotes from Martin Luther King, Jr. Does that make MLK a Marxist?

How would any Greeks here feel if within a couple of generations Greece were populated 60% by Mexicans? How would Mexicans feel if Mexico became 60% Greek? How would Russians feel if Russia became 60% Chinese?

I don't know, I'm just asking. Maybe it's all okay. Maybe all cultures are equal in the sight of God, and we shouldn't even have borders. I don't know, but I don't believe people should be called names for discussing controversial things.

i'm not getting on a discussion with you about immigration but i will say that america is a first world nation. a lot of people do come here to make money & also contribute to society. here in hawaii its the haoles (whites) that are the minority. being half japanese, i always felt that people from the mainland treat us locals as servants because they are here to vacation. so to be honest, there will always be some sort of racial disharmony in this world.

but to be a priest & talk about white pride? no. you wont even find locals here in oahu talking about purity in races as everybody here is one big tropical mix. as God's mouthpiece, priests are called upon to be fair & unbiased. so fr john should know better.

As for cultures remaining distinct and one promoting one's culture as superior, there is nothing like this in the New Testament. Christ called Jews, Greeks, Samaritans, Ethiopians, etc. to Himself and called them all into one Body

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light

Culture is good, beautiful and useful for bringing about order and even godliness when that culture has been transfigured. But being a Christian means becoming a citizen of a new nation, a member of a new culture. That must be our primary allegance and the only superior nationality.

I am an australian. What does that mean? white, Black, Greek, Chinese, English? I say none. And I say all. whether someone is Aussie has nothing to do with the colour of their skin or their background. So i say let the people come from other countries. I dont care if australia is dominated by Asians or any other race. Why? Cause people are people. It dont matter wat culture or colour we are, there are good and bad.
