- because it's the truth
- because Christ said to Peter, "you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it"
- because of Isaiah 22:20-25 (the Papacy)
- because we receive Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the Blessed Sacrament!
- because we can receive the Eucharist daily and go to Adoration
- because Our Blessed Mother is honoured in the Church!
- because Mary's apparitions, like in Fatima, or Lourdes, support the truth of the Church
- because Scripture says the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth
- because it has endured for 2000 years, despite great obstacles/difficulties (both external and internal)
- because of the Saints
- because it contains fullness of truth and contains the Sacraments, and we can receive many graces through the Church

All of the above and:

--I've had prayers answered and recieved great miracles from favorite Catholic prayers.

--It makes apologetics with atheism tons easier (other denoms is another story)

--When I'm on Catholic Church property, a sense of peace and spiritual uplift seem to pass through my soul and make it hard to even leave Church on Sunday!

--Rituals...Our traditions and practices have so many meanings, it's hard not to believe in any of them!

--it's in the blood, family is Catholic

--We've got all the cool stuff!! :D:D (rosaries, chaplets, chapel viels, etc.) <--these were actually the words of a Catholic Apologist that came to visit us one year :D

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new Catholic. I entered the Church in January. There are a lot of things that attracted me to the Catholic Church, but I have to be honest and say that I'm here because I believe in the Real Presence in the Eucharist. Were it not for that, I'd still be Protestant. That for me was the "deal breaker" that caused me to join the Church.

I became Catholic last year. That's great that the Real Presence is what brought you to the Church!! The Eucharist had a big part in my conversion as well. Have you ever seen the 'conversion stories' thread in OBOB? (it's a sticky). There are many awesome stories there, I'd love to hear yours someday! :D

God bless!

i was baptised as a child and raised Catholic

I have seen the power of the rosary in my life

the fact that the Church teaches the entire Bible, she does not cherry pick scripture

the teachings on the Euchrist make much sense, it is a clear call for the fact that the bread and wine turn into the Body and Blood of Christ while still being respectful of the Holy Mystery

sorry to hear that Br Xavier :( is there any particular reason - if you'd like to share? (it's alright if you don't want to).

God bless you on your journey

Well, I've since fallen away pretty much spiritually, though I don't miss Mass. Some health issues brought to light the fact that I didn't actually believe any of it in the first place. I'm still looking, though. Praying every now and again. From my theological past, I'd found a few things that I couldn't reconcile within the Catholic Church. It's amazing how much you can lose in four months, though. I couldn't for the life of me tell you what they were.

Better yet, why am I still here after the Catholics kicked me out?

.
were you excommunicated?
you can always come back, though from what you have said in other threads, it seems like you have no real interest to return to the Catholic Church

Rhamiel,

Since I have been excommunicated I have heard every smart answer that that the Catholics have to say, so I don't need anymore smart answers.

Was there something that tested your faith in the beginning of this? Lately I've been going through a spiritual trial where I'm constantly tempted and feel very far from God. Sometimes it's very difficult for people to hold on when things get more difficult spiritually. I'm not saying I'm any good at it. My faith right now is basically just an act of the will. It was very different before. I think..the only thing I can say, if I can say anything, - is that it helps to pray with trust in God. It's very, very difficult to keep faith if/when we don't trust Him.. and sometimes this is a choice that we make with no feelings at all, simply through the will, and our will always remains free. I'm sad to hear that you've fallen away spiritually but I myself am in danger of that every day - again, it's very difficult sometimes. Have you ever just come to an Adoration chapel and sat there for 30 minutes, with the intention of opening yourself up to God? never know what He might do, but it depends on us :)

sorry I've just rambled..wish I could say something more.

God bless.

Thanks Monica! I appreciate the welcome. I haven't read the conversion stories yet, but thank you for telling me about them. I'm sure I'll enjoy reading them. I'd be happy to share my conversion story sometime. Actually, I tend to view it as "our conversion story" as my husband and I converted together. We studied Catholicism together for several years and came into the Church together in January. We were also confirmed together recently.

I'd love to hear your conversion story too. If you posted it on the "conversion stories" thread I'll definitely look for it!:)

God bless you too!

I was a Charismatic long before I got kicked out of the Catholic Church. It was a great life being a Catholic and visited the small Protestant Charismatic churches. However, I slipped-up and married one of the Protestants in her church.

I would like to get back to where I was before, but this time with the traditional latin mass. They are more strict like the protestants, and actually live like what the Bible says.

The priest told me today that it would be okay if I sing in the Spirit along with the Gregorian Chants as long as I didn't distrub the people around me.

At present I am reversed. I am now a Protestant who worships with the Catholic. I don't like it that way, because I loose the Sacraments.

Regardless of which denomination, I will always be a Chrismatic forever until Jesus comes. I am born again!
