  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just got a central lip piercing done about 30 minutes ago. I thought I'd share, and you guys are the only people really I interact with these days on CF, sooo... here ya go.

This is my second central lip piercing.. the first was a vertical labret that I removed, as it was crooked and it drove me nuts that it was crooked. The lip ring has more play and it doesn't matter if it's off or not. When it heals I'm going to switch to studs and not rings probably, but rings are best for healing.

Sucky web-cam pictures:

Looks really cool! I've always wanted a facial piercing but I am too much of a wimp :p.

haha this one hurt less than my vertical labret did but honestly, I can't lie, it hurt :D

I cried with my vert. I didn't cry with this one at all. This guy I went to today was totally on the ball... He's been at it for 10 years, teaches at a piercing school in California, and he helps train the health inspectors as well. So I felt really good about him. He even told me what the last person did wrong when she did my vertical piercing. lol

I also got to lie back in a chair this time, the girl who did my first one just had me sit on a table which seemed like a really awkward way to shove metal into someone's lip. Lying back in the chair was way better and much more calming.

I think these piercings are all about who does them. The person doing them can make or break your entire experience, so it's important to shop around and find someone you feel comfortable with. I didn't do that the first time.. mistake.

How do you eat/drink/kiss with that thing? :p It looks cool, but like it was painful. Did it hurt?

Very carefully :D There's no oral contact for the first while to prevent infection.

Once the piercing is in, it doesn't hurt as much as you might think. It's just the needle that's a killer. Actually, after they pierce it, I'd say it's shoving the actual metal ring IN to the hole that hurts more... As mentioned above... I can't lie: it hurt :D

But eating isn't too big a problem. You generally wanna cut up your food small for the first day or two though, and drinking is best with a straw, lol

BA - I would imagine it was a lot like when I got my belly button pierced. It hurt something fierce when she did it, but it was fine to touch and spin the ring through when I was cleaning it after it was done.

Does your lip swell like a tongue does with a piercing. If it does - you totally need to post pics of that. :p

It swells a bit, but probably nothing worse than what's in the picture now.. and when I look at it I realize it doesn't really look swollen at all, lol. It does look a bit swollen in real life though, the webcam doesn't pick it up that well.

I think it depends on the person... my vertical labret didn't swell all that much either now that I recall. Maybe my lips are good for piercing :D

The ring he put in is a little larger than the end result will be, to allow for swelling. When it is healed in a few months I'll switch it out for studs or for a smaller ring that hugs the lip more closely.

I told my husband, "You know, I'll probably regret this when I'm 50." We laughed, neither of us really believes that... but something happened today that made me really excited.

While we were in the piercing parlor, there was a woman I would honestly describe as "elderly". After coming out from my piercing, I saw her sitting in the chairs next to my husband, and I realized:

This old lady had a lip piercing... and a nose piercing! And tattoos! And you know what?

... she looked good. :)

I'm just so psyched and excited now. I always worried, thanks to the pressures of my elders, that I was going to regret my piercings and tattoos later in life. That they would look ridiculous and odd, that I wouldn't want them anymore. But here before me was a lady who must have been 65 years old at least if not older, who was not only sporting these piercings...

... she was a current client of the studio for tattoos and the like. She was getting them in the later stage of her life!

I love it. I just love it... and I am totally ready to undertake the transformations I want to partake in this year. I have a whole list lined up, so does my husband... and somehow, we're gonna make it happen. We're too young not to live it up, and we are not going to regret this when we're older. This is a part of who we are. It's time to carpe diem, baby.

The only things I wonder if people will regret are the ear plugs/lip plugs/plates. Piercings can close up pretty well....tattoos can be hidden or removed...but the plugs/plates always freak me out a bit, lol.

I've always wanted a tiny stud in my nose...but I never got one and now...I feel too old, lol. I just think they look beautiful.

I have 4-gauge ear plugs in my ear piercings.

Here I took a pic for you, tried to get it so you can see right through the hole lol:

I'm getting my nose done next, as well as two more ear piercings (one per ear). My ears will end in 3 piercings each... 4 gauge, 10 gauge, and 18 gauge respectively.

oooo switchfoot :) Neat.

I was bored and took some random pictures..

This is my cat. And he is sitting where he's not supposed to be sitting. For Christmas, my mom sent him a to sleep on, because our sofa is hard to get cat hair out of. And right below his behind in this photo is his BLANKET, urgh... he's very defiant :p

I got some new clothes, I was trying to get a picture of my nice new hoodie: that I love oh so much. I have that deer-in-headlights look though:
