  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

D'oh! Marriage license problems.

So we went to get the marriage license and studiously double-checked all the forms they filled out, correcting every little typo. Then, when they printed out the license, we took it and ran off. The next day, I looked at it and noticed one of the names was spelled wrong. We figure what happened is that they had us look at everything else so carefully and not the final product, so we weren't stupid for missing it. Still! So we have to find a time to go back in and fix it. Fortunately, we don't have to spend money to do that.

I don't know what state you are in, but do you know if both the bride and the groom have to be present to pick up the marriage license.

Problem is Melissa and I are getting married in the state of FL. But I live in Indiana. The state of FL the marriage license can only be picked up 2 months before the wedding or less and has a short waiting period.

I have no plans of going back down to FL until just a day or 2 before the wedding. I'd like it if my fiancee could pick up the marriage license so I wouldn't have to make a special trip down there to pick it up.

Depends on state law, in PA anybody can pick up the marriage license. Generally it is easy to pick these up because they are frequently used for things like genealogical research and the like.

But that would be getting a copy of an existing marriage license. That is different from applying to get a new marriage license. :)
