I like spelling Baby lon this way; I believe Baby lon is the total religious, political and economical systems of man.

Still seems to be the best definition so far and that was several thousand posts back. Most of this thread is wildly off topic and seems to have veered into some Irish style sectarian slanging match.

Well, like I've said a hundred times - the book of Revelation was written to the Seven Churches of Asia. So what did the book mean to them? We only know it's true meaning looking over their shoulders.

In John's day the Queen of Babylon was very well known - she was known as a harlot in real life and is symbolic of the same in the spiritual realm also. Her name was Semiramis the wife of Nimrod. She is mentioned in scripture as the "Queen of Heaven."

Some think it was the wife of Claudius because of her rampant and commonly known harlotry. Her name was Messalina. Semeramis is symbolic of the great antiGod movment not too far past the flood and represents the origin of all that is evil in the world. Rome was carrying on the tradition of Babylon.

The woman on the back of the beast was one of two persons either Semeramis or Roma the goddess of Rome who was said to incarnate the Emperors, which made them Gods as well.

Roma was the chief God of the Romans (a powerful evil spirit) and guided the emperors to persecute and to martyr some 2,100,000 Christians during the Roman empire.

I'm betting on Roma myself. I don't think that people know the large place she had in ancient Roman times.

"MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH," is "that great city." All we have to do is read. The first verse we read of her in Revelation is this:

Revelation 17

We see that she is sitting on many waters, meaning that she is sitting on many nations, peoples, and languages.

The woman was sitting on a beast, and the beast had seven heads. The heads are seven mountains, or seven significant end time nations, with seven kings. (Every nation today has some kind of a leader.)

The harlot's end is to be burned with fire. "Religion" cannot be "burned" with fire. "She" is to represent something that can burn.

Now we know: the woman, Mystery Babylon, is a city! But not just any city: no, she is "that great city." Now, which city would God call "that great city?" John tells us:

We see then, that "that great city," is none other than Jerusalem. Wait! There is still more proof:

And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Where will the abomination event occur? Of course in Jerusalem. Where will the image of the beast be, that everyone will be forced to worship? Of course, in Jerusalem. The mark of the beast will be enforced from Jerusalem. Therefore, this great fornication, the worship of the great dragon, in the place of the Most High God, will origination and be propagated from Jerusalem!

Did we not see that about the great harlot?

the beast sits on 7 hills, vatican hill is not one of the 7 hills of Rome, also the vatican is in Rome but not the city of Rome is not ruled by the Pope anymore but by the secular government of Italy
