Ahhhh, the blessed honeymoon

So, for those of you that are engaged and planning your honeymoon, where is it going to be? Are you going to be doing much sightseeing?

I ask because I've been noticing on the internetz that honeymoons overseas seem to be more elaborate on the whole that the sorts people take in New Zealand.

Would you mind saving money and just have a week at home, shut off from the rest of the world?

Most likely the majority of it will be in a secluded cabin. Although we think we will spend the first couple days in a hotel.

The cabin we like unfortunutly is pretty far from anything to do other then hiking. (3 + hour drive one way) Plus its a bit pricey. (Its something we could do but its on the upper end).

We're going to see if we can't find another cabin elsewhere that is secluded but not quite so far from any major cities.

As for me... I want to go somewhere fun. Simply because it is a good excuse for a vacation. Right after I am get married... I am moving 800 miles away... so staying at home would make me want to get to work on unpacking and such. I think there will be a happy balance betwen going places and staying in. I really want to go to a resort and just not have to worry about cooking or cleaning or anything else. The following months are going to be really busy and of course the previous months are going to be even busier... so nice relaxing vacation= my honeymoon.

We're doing a cabin in Western North Carolina. Along these lines:

If you like overseas travel, remember that tourism is tanking everywhere, which means there are some great deals to be had. Ireland is very cheap right now, for instance. See this great article:

We went to a beach and got a house right along the water. It was a good time. Spent some time in the town and going to nice restaurants.

We are sporty, adventurous people, and we plan to go on a cruise to Jamaica (that's where we went for a missions trip in 2004 and where we first really talked about our "feelings" for each other... we started dating a year later...)

Eeeee! One of my best friends is from Jamaica. She's lived over here for a few years, but I love hearing about her culture and listening to her talk.

We're not engaged yet, but we're probably going to honeymoon in Salem, Massachusetts. He loves the paranormal and I love old time-y towns, so it should be a good choice for us.

As of right now, we have one night booked at a local bed and breakfast that is REALLY cute!!! It is a fancy room that is ALWAYS booked so luckily we gave enough advance notice.

After that, not really sure yet. Probably just travel around the province...

I *love* bed and breakfasts. But my fiancee does not want to share breakfast with me and everyone else, so we're doing a boutique hotel the first night. Similar prices, character, but more private.

We haven't talked about it a whole lot, but I hope for a cabin in the woods. My ideal would be somewhere in the Grand Tetons, but I don't know that it matters to me a great deal, just as long as it's comfortable and at least somewhat romantic.

We aren't engaged yet, but we will be once we are closer to being finished with school. We are eager to begin our lives together! Discussed the honeymoon locale many times, and hands down it is a cabin in the Smoky Mountains (somewhere around Sevierville, TN). His family has gone on many vacations there, and I was invited to go with them this past spring. I LOVED it. Many interesting, free things to do if you enjoy hiking and exploring, which we do. It makes me wanna go back right now just thinking of it!

I don't know. Just about anything would be good since there are many places I'd like to visit. Maybe Mexico and get SCUBA certified with some of his friends. Of course that means there will be friends in the picture at least part of the time. He's never been to Hawaii and I'd like to see some of the other islands.

We have to get away in order to be alone; otherwise some of his friends might be stopping by and we have 3 kids under 18 that are not part of our honeymoon plans.
