In your opinion today, looking back, were the Salem Witch Trials in respect to the Bible, or in spite of the Bible?

Is this the same Exodus that says, 'Thou shalt not kill'?In respect. Exodus tells us that witches should be killed (and no, AV, it does not specify the type or relative power of said witch), Jesus says that the old law should be followed regardless of what else he told us about casting stones and loving our neighbors. Pretty cut-and-dry, IMHO.
Acts 13:8-11 said:
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

If killing witches is, in you guys' opinions, supposed to be done irrespective of the dispensation we're in, then why, when Paul turned Elymas the sorcerer over to God for God (Who never changes) to handle in Acts 13 --- only blind him?
I'd say that about sums it up --- from you guys' perspective.Ooh, OOh!! I know! Because Man is supposed to blindly follow whatever flavor of the week interpretation fundamentalist evangelicals cook up from a [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]-eyed glance at their book, whereas God always gets a free pass to do whatever he chooses to, regardless of the bald-faced hypocrisy that results...?

Well, to be truthful, I have never heard that before --- but if I did, I would certainly believe it.Hey AV1611VET what do you think of what I wrote the post above. In spite of the Bible, no question about it. Several christians died trying to stop the slaughter of "justice" carried out. Drowning is not a nice way to go, its not waterboarding you know. I understand christians that died were killed by soldiers standing guard. Good people gave testimony at the trials. Peace everlasting.
